Late night format just suits Conan so badly. A monologue with prewritten jokes and a guest where the spotlight is on them and not on Conan. He needs these remotes. This is where he has a huge edge over anyone else in the talk show game: he is so much funnier than all the other hosts. There is a reason why someone like Fallon doesn't do these.

I remember the first sex ed class in our school, I was in the fourth grade, mid 1980's. Our male woodshop teacher/custodian was given the task. He opened up an entire new world to us in an hour, answering any question and telling stories brought back from Vietnam. I doubt anyone coached him on how to do the class, because we all learned about the hardcore and the bizarre. I went from little kid to porn aficionado. Sadly, the next day our new hero was let go because of like 300 pissed parents threatening lawsuits. The good ole days!
