You really gotta admire Flula, it's not easy staying in character non-stop and coming up with hilarious and witty comebacks to everything. He can't give a normal answer, everything has to be silly, that's not easy to do. He has amazing improv skills and is clearly super smart.

Honestly - he is amazing. I work in Austria - I have also worked in Germany and to be that fast and on point is crazy. You have to think in two languages at once.He has a really broad bandwidth - he reminds me a lot of the old comedy greats like Bob Hope or Red Skelton. I thoroughly enjoy his appearances on Conan. 😊

"If at first you don't succeed, keep doing it over and over again is the definition of sanity." - Flula Borg. Here he's taking two cliche phrases generally not perceived as related and both assumed to be true ("If at first you don't succeed, try, try again" and "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, expecting different results"), and combining them to present one philosophy while reminding you of the contradicting one in order to comedically undermine his own point, and he structures it as setup (the beginning of the saying, trailing off into getting the wording wrong) and punchline (landing on a clear reminder of the other saying at the very end). The work of a true wordsmith, and I have no idea if he thought of it on the spot or came up with it beforehand, but either way, that's good craftsmanship.

For a bit of trivia, the first Star Wars movie was the only one which got fully translated in Germany, meaning they kept everything the same as in the English version, just adopted it to german pronuncation. Tatooine became Tatuuin. And Star Wars was Krieg der Sterne, War of the Stars. When Star Wars became the juggernaut that it is, names weren't changed anymore. Hans Olo however, was obviously something that never happened.
