Tldr ; hosts hate their audience 90% of the time I dont think a single talk show host needs an live audience to attract tv viewers its done for the single purpose of selling expensive tickets. No host rlly likes their audience cus theyre told to laugh at every joke and that can have kind of a duality to it cus, when the audience is great and laugh at every joke, the show will seem extra funny. But theres nothing worse than having laugher and then taking it away. Makes every terrible joke that much more ugly. I do like conan more than most talk show hosts thoguht cus he can hold a conversation that is both engaging and fun (and no cheap drama at the expense of the interviewee)
