I was lucky enough to sit in the audience of a recording of Conan a few years ago. Before Conan comes out, the band starts playing Move on Up by Curtis Mayfield. LaBamba is walking around the studio as he's playing the trombone, then he hands his trombone to some random person in the audience and tells her to start playing while he sings the lyrics. Haha. They are so entertaining and amazing musicians. During the commercial breaks, of course the audience doesn't actually see any ads. We just got to hear the band play a song. Conan just kinda walked around the band as they played and I could tell that he really admired Jimmy Vivino's skill on the guitar.

Met Jimmy Vivino and Mike Merritt during my bohemian Chelsea Guitar days. Wonderful, down to earth people. I know the will land on their feet with plenty more gigs to come.

I've been watching Conan since 96. I've seen this band play for so long. What a sad moment. Damn us all for KZbin usage.

Damn i usually dont comment on conan vids but i gotta this time. Thats a great band that theyre gonna lose. This talk show will always be my favorite because of the true friendship you can see. Farewell jimmy vivino and the basic cable band:)

It's so sad to see a genuinely funny talk show with an amazing band like these guys get shaken up like this while that 12 year old Fallon and his teenage antics get to tarnish the memory of the once great tonight show. Tonight show has gone downhill since Carson left there are no two ways about it. TBS you are making a huge mistake. what a shame!
@hugonongbri81006 жыл бұрын
The tonight show with Conan had a chance of being in the same league as Johnny's but...nbc fucked that up too...now we have to accept dance battles and fake laughs.... 😂😅😆

I can't stop watching this clip.. such a bittersweet song choice. Such a great sound. These guys are right up there with the Blues Brothers Band in my eyes in terms of talent and power.

The band was a big part of the show and will be missed. I grew up watching Conan from the start. When i had to stop playing paino because of nerve damage in my left hand, i switched to Trombone because my music teacher said you didnt need a left hand to play trombone (mostly). It was a big change and an emotionally difficult one to switch instruments like that and i was nervous about the future prospects of being a trombone player, but seeing LaBamba do great things with it really gave me the hope i needed to stick with it and continue music, and i did for 8 years thanks to that and enjoyed it. I did stop playing to goto art school but it was a choice i made on my own and dont regret. But i will always appreciate what the band did for me and the show. See you guys in the year 3000.

I loved these guys so much. My favorite was the early days sound. Check the 90s clips. And Vivino has always been a great guitarist. I also loved Max Weinberg even though he is not here in this clip. Conan should consider going back to touring with these guys! They're something special.

wtf!!! the ones that should be on a 30 min format are fallon,kimmel and colbert!!!!
@ripdajacker236 жыл бұрын
Conan is the one who made the decision. He's going to do more "Team Coco" online content (Clueless gamer, Without Borders, etc) that ties in with the show, thus the 30 min format. He's actually adapting well to the digital age, and is a good move imo

Colbert and Kimmel should be off the air, or at least honestly promoted as a political show.

25 years. This band was there when it all started, and to my awareness Max Weinberg was the only member that ever left. I mean it feels bad to me as a fan but just imagine how bad it must feel to Conan...

Anticipating the band's last musical phrasing of the entire song, I broke down crying realizing I was graced to just have heard the last of Conans amazing band. May their new musical adventures be lucrative, invigorating and fun! Their memories will live on!
