Patiently waiting for ice fishing. Fish the east side if the lake using jigging raps - I replace the treble with a stronger eagle claw and bait it with a small red grub - the perch love it. I got some pro-cure ice hole perch gel to sweeten it up. Good luck this winter...

This is amazing I’ve been a couple times and never once seen a jumbo perch my biggest is around 8 inches. My son is starting to love it as much as I do. He’s 6 now maybe this will be the year we finally get a jumbo perch.

everyone of those fish was bigger then my biggest yellow perch lol Biggest yellow perch I ever saw caught was in a pond on long island ny, had to be at least every bit of 3 lbs and oddly enough it was the only yellow perch I ever saw caught out of that pond. Believe it or not, those ponds on long island had some of the biggest brim, bass and pickeral I have ever seen, no one fished for them and no one ever removed them to eat if they did. secret panfish paradise.

Great video. When you guys go out are you dropping the camera looking for structure, transitions or weeds on the flats for perch?
@TeamColdfront

Thank you! Not really. We generally know where to look for perch. The camera is just fun to see how they react and get footage for the viewers.

What depth do you usually start looking for them at when they start moving into pre spawn?
@TeamColdfront
@TeamColdfront 4 жыл бұрын
Typically, you can find jumbos at a big range of depths (7-45 FOW) in January and early February. Around late February and March is when we usually stay shallow on flats and rock piles.
@freedomunrestricted
@freedomunrestricted 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the info, local reservoir I've been fishing I have had good luck between 25-40 fow so far. But relativley new to perch fishing. Will start looking to move shallow at the end of february.

I feel more safe on a foot of ice than driving on the roads everyday. These big mommas need to spawn! We still keep some smaller ones the odd time but love catching them.

Keeping fish that big can really hurt the populations. They are practicing great conservation of the fishery. No need to keep any perch over 10" they produce a lot of eggs.Keep up the great work guys!!!
