In teamfights and guaranteed kills it's good to sacrifice. It's definitely not good to sacrifice when it's a a losing battle (such as out of position MM in a gank and the tank's CC is on cooldown) or greedy advances.

@@ADORBSXVIVI in general roamers have less "value" when trading kills. Junglers and MMs have higher "value" because they can deal damage and maybe turn the tide of the battle even when alone. For example, in the early game, if you are ganking the enemy jungler's farm, sacrificing yourself (like tower diving or flicker CC) to guarantee a kill on the enemy jungler is a net positive trade because it will significantly slow down the gold gain of the enemy team. Another example: in late game teamfight, when your team is in the high ground defense/offense (where the enemy team is grouping), using CC ult like Tigreal or Gatotkaca to the enemy team is worth it even if you die, because it will allow your team to do a wipeout and make a comeback or finish the game.
