Didn't take long for LSV to want to turn a perfectly fine 2 color deck into a 4 color pile.

Bold prediction after the Lurrus pick, it will be a great lurrus companion deck until p3p6 when he gets passed a parralax wave.

Is it wise to go for lurrus companion deck? I’ve done it couple times and it seems good but I’m not sure if it’s better to play it in the main without restriction.
@TheoryTechDotDek4 ай бұрын
@@kyleucfI mean, there's a reason it's the strongest deck in vintage. With so many powerful non permanents in the cube, it can be easily broken.

I love this series. I have made a game out of it, pause and guess the card you take. I am about 75% on first picks, getting close to 90% on subsequent picks. Doesn't make me a great player (I would say about 50% of the time you make plays I wouldn't have thought of, that are obvious to you:), but I am sure that you are making me a better player. Anyways, thanks for this, honestly I think Cube may be the only "Perfect" MTG format, and you make it awesome.

I've got an idea, what do you think about doing a team-draft with all 4 are together in the discord and see what the others pick in your team live. I know its against the usual rules, but would be fun to see. If all 8 are fine to have a fun one.:)

Hi LSV! First off, I absolutely love your videos, I have watched basically every one and it's just fantastic, thanks for the awesome content! I have a question regarding game 3 against JBro. On turn 2 you go for Hymn instead of Pathing the Hexdrinker. On turn 1 you saw JBro's hand and it had no turn 3 play, so they would have had to topdeck to do anything if Hexdrinker was not in play anymore. If I was in that position, I would have killed the Hexdrinker on T2, hope JBro doesn't topdeck, then Hymn on T3 and proceed as you did. That would have made it impossible to die to JBro hitting all land drops and fully pumping Hexdrinker as early as possible. Do you think that would have been better or am I not considering an advantage of the line you took? Again, thanks for these great vids, they have definitely improved my game - got my first trophies and that would have been way harder without you! :)

In this vid you say Inquisition is easily the worst of the 3x CMC 1 hand disruptors: thoughtseize, duress, inq. Was wondering why that is? I always thought of inquisition as a better card than duress, esp in cube where the avg cmc of decks is usually pretty low. Maybe you feel duress has more utility in the combo and control matchups?
@SindarinElealar Жыл бұрын
He's addressed this before: typically you cannot take everything you'd want. While it might not miss all that often, there are lots of cases where the big spell, particularly a bomb or a planeswalker, is 4+ CMC. Also, Vintage Cube curves are actually typically fairly high due to the amount of busted acceleration available (you just need payoffs to smash people with Sneak or Rofellos or Grim Monolith or Moxen or Mizzix's Mastery or Natural Order or Lotus or...well, you get the point), compared to most other formats.

If you clear the revealed cards before you look at their hand again you dont have to go clear out individual cards, its a lot more straight forward. I'd day I remember to do that about 40% of the time and the other 60% I'm grumbling through clearing them one by one too 🤣

I have just realised, that team of players with photographic memory (or with enough patience to make screenshots) are able to recreate all picks from opposing teams before round 1. Just a thought before we ask for team vintage cube draft GP :)
@Luckingsworth Жыл бұрын
They already constantly do this. They analyse what their decks are and make very educated guesses (which are usually correct) about the nature of the 3 decks their opponents are playing.

@Luckingsworth Жыл бұрын
It was very well thought out. They wanted to turn all of MTG into commander. They just didnt receive the reaction they had hoped for.
@nekrataali Жыл бұрын
As far as I know, MaRo originally designed the mechanic to exile a card out of your hand before the game began in addition to the other requirements. It made mulligans more punishing because you may need the cards in your hand and not necessarily the companion, but your deck was still built with companion requirements. Yorion (for example) would be extremely punishing if you had to mulligan to five since it essentially meant a mull to four with a 5 mana card that can be cast from exile. Your deck is still 80 cards and you may not get to five mana to cast your companion. I think the mechanic could have been relatively well-balanced if it had more punishing requirements. But the suits over at WotC made R&D alter companion to what it became on release to appeal to commander players, which turned everything into a shitshow.
