Ranger is still the cream of the crop no matter if Johnny Morris owns them. No matter where you go or who you talk to, every other boat brand is always compared to one brand and that is always Ranger. I've owned them from the 90's to the 2020's and I can guarantee you the last one is way better than the previous ones. Might be some lemons out there just like in everything else but like ol' Slick Ric used to say " it's the oldest ride in the park but it's got the longest line "

It's not a Forrest Wood built boat severely overpriced IMO Rangers are not true Rangers anymore build cheap sell high that's why I won't get rid of my 2005 Ranger 185vx that I bought new there's just no comparison and only give 28k out the door two depth finders 24 volt minn kota two bank onboard charger and a cover boat manufacturers are pricing their self out of business especially with the price of housing gas and groceries

I purchased a Bass Tracker TWX 175 17 plus feet with a 60 mercury 4 stroke. I loved it but then I bought a Ranger RT178 and 17 ft. plus tin boat. Wow, What a difference. THE tracker trailer was thinner and small bunks and cheap wheels and tires. Paid extra for a spare tire and bracket. The ranger trailer was much thicker beams, beautiful alloy wheels and big tires. matching spare built on the trailer. The boat was much heavier and quieter. The seating was higher grade and a fiberglass dash. Much much better quality. A little higher price but but the quality clearly seen. Same 60 HP 4 stroke. It clearly out ranked the Tracker. I get a lot of compliments on the rig. Very happy. Ranger uses a heavier grade of alluminum.

Hank Parker is the man!!! Lucky enough to have met him when I was a kid. His spinnerbaits by Mann's were 100% built better than anything you'd get today. What happened to boats and their pricing? Did you know when Hank Parker won the 89 classic In Richmond Va where I from he was not using a man’s classy spinner bait it was a Hawg caller SB made in NC. After he won Man’s bait company coped the Hawg CallerSB and gave it the Classic name and packaged under Manns name because this was his sponsor an he could not make any money off of Hawg Caller baits

I believe mercury updated the bulletin to state that a lithium starting battery is ok to use AS LONG AS it's designed as a starting battery and not a trolling battery. A subtle but important distinction.

I think the narrow front decks of gambler, bass cat and ballistic turn away potential buyers. With all tackle and electronic options today you need plenty of room up front. I think Rangers name and front platform keep people interested. Seems to me for performance and deck space falcon are way to go. But that just me.

@@TeamMarineService I'm on my 5th Ranger 2012. The boat is WAY WAY overpriced. Don't forget sales tax will add another 7 to 8K . That's 126K. Do you realize what you could buy in essentials for 126K? Even in this economy and world unrest, it's great product. But, way way too much for a recreational vehicle. S.B. A loyal Ranger owner for 25 years (5 new Rangers).

My dad and I never missed an episode of his show when I was little. Thanks for bringing back old school fishing memories. Love the channel. I do agree with everyone else Forrest Wood was the old school bass boat man. They definitely are not now making legends one at a time. They are along side Nitro,Triton . Kinda sad. Still like my boat but won’t buy a new one.

im conflicted on the over-under..i have a new 22 518 with a 200v8 and my son runs a 20 521 boat.He has a few stress cracks all ready but runs greenbay all the time.ive been thru both boats and they pretty well built?time will tell i guess.The effin v8 sounds boss though,hopefully it wasnt built on a monday by fill-in employees..

On your boat ratings, you have Bullet and Gambler at the top of your list. These are both specialty boats. A Basscat and Ranger, or a combination of high-quality, cutting-edge true fishing boats. I still think Ranger is a good boat. You need to fish out of one and make a plant visit to make your final decision of whether or not the brand being bought out has degraded the product.

@@TeamMarineService I have 2013 520c and the boat has given me 0 problems- I like the wide deck and dry ride if they go down hill - I will more then likely get a Bass-Cat only time wil tell what they do with Ranger but we got to give them a honest chance

Did Hank Parker win the Classic or did Jim Bitter lose it? Hank won by 2 oz., however, Jim Bitter lost a fish at the end of the day, that jumped out of his hand and back in the river when he was measuring it. That very fish would have gave him the win. But, what a come from behind win for Hank Parker.

Is it fair for me to say that you are assuming the quality isn’t there? Wouldn’t a cutaway of these boats be in order to prove that? Seems to me that a bass boat, if it can move to being mass produced, and maintain the quality of the auto industry, is a good thing. Perhaps bass pro is trying to be the ford of bass boats, or what have you,

Fair question Richard...we will say that we have yet to work on a new R boat yet but we have worked on 2021 L models and have seen flaw after flaw that should have been caught by QC. They cannot check everyone that goes out the door when they're stamping them out as fast as they are.

When you whistled the theme to the "Hank Parker's Outdoor Magazine" show, That sent me back into a time warp to the day's of the pinacol of Bass fishing when the common man could buy a new boat & enter fishing tournaments. Now it's rich kids with Daddy's money staring at a computer monitor on a $100,000 boat. Sad!

Did you own a Ranger R boat. The Quality is hand down better than any other Ranger ever built. It’s a different animal. Forrest wood has not had anything to do with the build of the boat for 20 years He was just the front man for promotion only. Ranger has been bough and sold many times and never had complaints and Forrest Wood had nothing to do with the building of the boat just used him as the Face of Ranger for Promotions

The build quality is just not there to warrant that sky high pricing. That’s really all there is to say. I would think that 99% of bass boat consumers are buying with a view of long term ownership. With the degradation of the build quality, there will be many more dissatisfied Ranger owners. UNFORTUNATELY. Love the content guys.

Years left to go to Vexus. Why no one knows. Ranger is still is made in the same plant as before take over . Ranger is not build from materials Nitros are not even close to the same boat in anyway. The 520 and 521 R boats is been made as well or better than any other Ranger ever build . They stepped up to the plate and went far and above any previous Ranger. Don’t compare the boat to any other Ranger. What bothers me about this site has not worked on them or went to the factory to see how they are but went to Gambler plant to look at out dated boat that I’m sure is build good for skinny go fast boat that they tried to make into a bass boat. All your top boats you like are go fast boats not a bass boat that is build for tournament fishing. Could go on to tell you many reasons why they are not real tournament boats but you know why. When Genmar owned 14 boat companies there were no complaints. Now you want to bash Ranger and you have not seen how the R boats are built. Go to the factory work on them then tell all the reasons (facts) not your opinion all the things why it’s not worth the money. All I hear because WRMG owns them they are now not worth the money. No facts to back it up. I don’t want your opinion tell me the facts. Last time I wrote comment like is you never answered at all mush less facts. I think this is a good KZbin channel just bothers me when you have no real facts why the R boat is over price. Go to the factory get all the facts then explain why the R boats are over priced.

Forrest Woods sold Ranger in 1987. Pretty much he was kept on board as a marketing tool and nothing more, people bought the hype not knowing any better. Not a fan of WRM but had they not purchased Ranger from a holding group their probably wouldn't be a Ranger made today.

I don’t think I could ever spend that much on a boat…but if I did it wouldn’t be a Ranger. I had a little Nitro that I thought was great, felt a little cheap but did the job until it delaminated at just under 6 years old. Not hating on JM but don’t think I could buy a boat associated with that company again. If the Rangers are being built the same way as the Nitros then it’s way over priced. I feel like the brand options for quality boats has shrunk a lot over the last decade.

Totally agree. The Ranger boats coming from the same shop as nitro and triton sucks. No longer the top tier quality that Forrest was producing. Ranger, Nitro and Triton are all over priced.

They are not made in the same factory you called a shop never have been. Triton was build in the same factory for a while. When WRMG ( if you know who that is) bough the companies A new factory was built just for Triton and now back to Ranger only factory that Ranger had been in for many years. Also when Triton was in same factory as Ranger no materials or parts were shared between the two boats. Again Nitro and Ranger have never been in the same factory
