Thanks for this. Do you know whether external users have access to the transcript post-recording? Also, does the meeting have to be recorded (video)? It doesn’t look like you did that, but I wanted to make sure.

Thanks for the great explanation! Is there a way I turn on transcription without alerting the attendees? I have a hearing loss and prefer not to disclose during the meetings when I turn on the transcription. Thanks for your feedback in advance!

Yes, they go together. When you click Record, it starts along with the transcription.

There is no recording and transcripts in call series, how to add it in recording

If you are in a meeting, and do not see Start Recording, your company may have turned if off.

Hi Chris, Thank for your video There something I would like to ask about : - I have direct meeting with one guy and of course we can not start transciption (line is grey out).... but I invite one more guy to join in and we can activate it..... how we can explain this ? I tried to search more detail in MS but nothing mentioned :)

Leo, is this a video call or a meeting? Make sure it is a meeting, and you should be able to use transcription. If it is a video call, which is being in chat, and clicking the video camera, transcription doesn't work.

Great video. We have been approved to enable this functionality for just a select few people (I know....). We're having a challenge getting it to work fully for just a handful of people. It seems if they get invited to other meetings set up by people without the transcription permissions, then no one can start the transcriptions. I bet it's a simple fix but wanted to air it out here.

YES. A program I use for all my YT videos is called DeScript. You can upload video or audio files. I use descript for my Closed Captioning on all videos.

Are you using Teams family/personal by chance? Possibly they don't have this feature in that version.

Hi Chris. Is there a way to put these transcripts on word with the names and time stamps on it as well. When I converted the vtt file to a word file it just included what was said but not the name and time when it was said.

As of the year 2023 you can use Transcription in Meet now meetings. I've just tested this ;)
