Hey Ben and Peter, it's really cool that you're putting the console's average at the end of every video, but could you also display like a leader board with the previous console averages too? That way we could see how the various lineups compare and get some idea of which console had the best launch lineup (which I know is ultimately subjective, but since we're going off of metacritic anyway we might as well use that as a metric).

He only did the European launch lineup. If I remember right, the USA also had Madden NFL 2005. Although all it was was a PS1 Madden NFL with the ability to select your play from the touch screen.

The Urbz is truly a hidden gem in the DS's game catalogue. If you manage to play it till the end you realize it has a great and wacky story, with engaging characters and locations, and fun minigames. Might look like ass in today's standards but I always end up coming back to it!

If you want the best experience of SM64DS, then playing on a 3DS is your best bet. The analog stick on the 3DS helps a ton, and demoted my NDS to a GBA.

Sims Urbz is actually quite good, It's a adventure game with a lot going for it. I played it quite a bit back in the day. There is also an emulator hack out there to get proper analogue control into SM64DS and it's amazing.

while the DS had a weak launch lineup, I believe that super mario 64 DS holds it together as it is really good, it was the first mario game in my opinion to get the character models right, and the fact that it was bigger than SM64 was amazing. THe DS is one of the best consoles of all time

I was so tempted in march 05 but I was playing the gba non stop and bought a gamecube in Feb, so I decided to wait til September when Meteos came out. That and Mario 64 were my first two games. Then it seemed every week there was an amazing game coming out.

Man. Seeing “Project Rub” AKA “Feel the Magic ” as I knew it brought back some memories. I remember that one being generally neglected but one day I picked it up, and actually thought it was good when i finally finished it. This was forever ago. I had that , Asphalt urban GT and SM64 DS, and later games like Metroid, THAW etc. Those were some times!

I had Project Rub on an R4 flash cart as a kid and I had no idea what it was; I just have a vivid memory of the minigame with a goldfish in a guy’s stomach. One of the weirdest games I’ve played and idek if it’s something 6yo me should’ve been playing

The original DS has a stylus nub on the lanyard intentionally so you could attach it to your thumb for a thumb stylus. This was intentional for games like Metroid or other FPS games. The thumb stylus was always intentional for the system.

Zoo Keeper was the first game I played with my flashcard. I had the whole library on my hand but I always came back to this game. As you said: very addictive.

I had almost every DS launch game hahahaha! I loved the DS. I remember in Asphalt Urban GT there was an oversight where you could buy a car model, then sell it at like 500 dollar profit or something LOL. So I spent like a few hours doing that and was able to buy everything hahahahahhaa

I really liked Pokémon Dash back in the day. With the caveat that I don't think I've played it since the late 2000s. But I know it was the DS game I wanted the most before I got the system.

Just starting the video but the thumb stylus worked great for the Metroid Prime Hunters demo that came with the original DS console (and allowed you to play the game while holding the console 2 handed)

I will always defend Super Mario 64 DS. I had the original on N64 growing up but the DS version is the one I spent an obsessive amount of time with. I know it gets crap these days for the d-pad controls but back then it didn’t stop me from having a good time!! It’s an incredibly impressive feat for the handheld for sure.

I remember this came out shortly after I got my first summer job. I had to choose between a DS and a Tippmann 98 custom WITH....a flatline barrel. I played paintball the following year.

looking back at the launch titles really takes me back to when i initially got my ds for christmas back in 2005, i believe? i wanted something else to play aside from sm64ds and around that time there wasn’t anything available aside from most of these games in my local target. grandpa told me to pick out two games so in my bright adolescent mind i decided to buy ping pals and mr driller drill spirits. i managed to make way more enjoyment out of ping pals than i’d like to admit but even back then i remember absolutely hating it

the wario minigame game was my favourite through the whole life cycle of the ds and I remember competing for high scores on the playground of my school with my friends, my second favourite probably was the super mario 64 like game, I did not know both were launch games
