Some Kolkata-based scammers called me and gave me access to their PC. More interesting files. They then tried to connect to my PC, but TeamViewer now blocks connections from India. Nice!

I am not here to burst bubbles of those who may think of the channels mentioned as heroes. Keep in mind what they is for entertainment on KZbin. In no way to do anything to stop internet fraud. Deleting a few files stops them for max 2 hours. Its matter of taking a stick and re-uploading the files which are all backed up on external drives. Do you people think these scammers are stupid? they have dealt with Kitboga and Jim many times before and know how to ignore them end the call and re-upload rinse repeat etc should they be successful in delaying the scans. they are minor inconveniences to scam call centers and thats all they are...it nothing to stop them.

What they do won’t stop these scammers since that’s basically impossible, but it does prevent a couple phone calls. In the case of Jim, he is even able to get people their money back. You should also throw some random files and icons into your desktop, nowadays they can tell that they're being monitored because your desktop looks like you just installed it or running on a VM. By adding some icons to fill up at least half of the desktop will minimize their suspicion of being cracked... And automate file transfers at least with macro short cuts, so you do it with a short key rather than navigating on his pc which he can clearly see...

Excellent work Jim Browning... I managed to teamviewer a refund scammer who left automated voice mails on my phone to call their tech number the other day, but it was a fresh clean pc with no info. I dont know if some of them wised up with keeping personal info off the computers or if i caught them too early... Once i was possible to download files from scammers pc almost like 5 times in a row and gave them to Jim Browning. He phoned the victims up, the files contained their adress, credit card info and phone numbers.

One guy seemed like i was lying for a while...im like "sir im not asking for any info...im letting u know if the ending to ur card is XXXX then scammers have your card and u need to cancel it immediately"

I think I know why Fast Support is so popular with scammers: the name looks believable and reassuring to potential victims. I was wondering if they followed TeamViewer's lead with the warning, and when I checked their site, I saw this at the top of their Establish Support Connection and GoToAssist pages: "Be cautious if you receive unsolicited requests to access your computer. Only join support sessions with people you recognize and trust." There is also a link to report abuse. Another good job, Jim.

These scam callers are total w**kers and if they ever call me, I take delight in keeping them on the call for as long as possible, following their instructions to download this and that, telling them it doesn't work (which it wouldn't because I use Linux, but they don't need to know that!) , playing dumb about it not working, until I get bored with them. Feels good to see how they can't even handle a phone. It shows the people that these guys are just dumb little loosers and that they're not the normal Indians who work at legit tech companies. What do you think about these "PC service" shops btw? I just fixed a problem for my aunt, because she couldn't open her files. Nothing bad, she just didn't have any PDF reader installed. She told me that a PC service shop told her it costs 150 bucks. Something similar happened to my dad a few years ago, he basically paid 100 bucks for a new Windows user account. It's not as bad as the classic tech support scam but in my opinion it's clearly a rip off to charge that much money for such easy things just because they don't know a lot about it.

I really feel for the common people in India. Between scammers and many legitimate tech jobs moving to India, there's so much hate and such terrible representation. Like, if you've spoken to someone in India over the phone it's 90% guarantee either it's a scammer or it's someone legit, but their English is so different from yours that you can't understand a thing. The amazing music, movies, and cultural stuff doesn't get nearly as much attention in the west. It's just phone scammers and under trained legit tech support.

The problem is if they "invest" into a good VPN, then they can make their connection look like coming from any country, since better vpn's even have the option to choose the IP's geo location on demand. Gotta come up with an anti vpn/scammer solution now. ;)
