My grandmother taught me how to crochet when I was 12. I am a self taught knitter, that was when I was 18. I enjoy both and like you will choose to knit/crochet based on what I’m seeking to create. I am considering making a journal for myself. 👚

Aww that’s so sweet! Grandmothers are often very talented with knit and crochet. I feel like the projects were a lot more detailed back then! Happy to hear you found inspiration from this and thanks for watching 🤗

I thought this was a lovely video, thank you so much for sharing! I crochet, knit, and spin my own yarn so I was thinking it's time to start writing and organizing all of my projects in one place so I don't risk losing them on my phone.

Love it! I’ve been crocheting for about 10 or so years. I actually taught myself by watching KZbin tutorials. I’m also learning to read written crochet patterns so the idea to write down crochet abbreviations is such a good idea. I’m definitely going to make a crochet journal. Thank you for sharing this with us 😊

I also hold my crochet hook like a knife. I could never get the have of the pencil grip either!

Haha happy to hear there are others who hold it like a knife too! The pencil grip just feels so weird and wrong 😂

I love this journal 🥰👚🧶 I learned crochet and sewing as a child. My mom made all kinds of hand goods and taught me and my little sister. She tried to teach us knitting and calligraphy, but I couldn’t wrap my head around the 2 needs and fountain pen when I was little. In 2000 I finally learned to knit. I have made about 200 items for friends and family, and in 2010 I started my 365 days of lace and shawls goal. I absolutely love lace weight yarn and I own about 10 sets of size 2 & 3 US knitting needles because I love casting on 🤭 My favorite yarn is Zephyr (wool blend which makes a very airy shawl), alpaca, cashmere, and Shetland wool. When you do a project I recommend you keep at least one label for reference. Thank you for showing this. My little notebook from years past has taped in labels and photos of finished projects. There is a website called Raverly for fiber arts folks, If you join, I’m Ceme. I lost touch with posting, but the website has tons of free patterns and a serious yarn library. Happy knitting!

Wow your mom sounds like a talented person and love that she taught you and your little sister as well! My mom also taught me how to knit because I wanted to learn it before we would start knitting at school 😄 love that you set a goal for yourself in 2010, it must have been a great way to practice! And I’m sure your lace projects look amazing 😍 I haven’t tried lace weight yet, mainly because knitting with it would probably take a lot longer since it’s thinner than dk I’m used to haha. But will have to give it a try! Thank you so much for leaving such a lovely comment and happy knitting to you too ❤️

I learned crochet first so I like it more, but the thought of being made to hold the hook like a pencil makes me shudder! I hold mine like a knife as well (it's funny because I never connected it to the way I hold a knife before, lol). Very fun journal and very inspiring. I have a hobonichi weeks that I'm wanting to use for the same purpose, plus my other creative hobbies (painting, sewing, etc).

Yes the pencil hold is so weird, I’ve tried it multiple times but it just doesn’t work for me 😂 thank you so much for watching and for the kind words! Using hobonichi weeks for the same purpose sounds like a great idea 😍

Keep going with your crochet. Crystal from Bag o Day Crochet is the best teacher she has thousands of you tube videos and tutorials. She crochets clothing, blankets and lots of different beanies. Creative Grandma makes beautiful blankets and has a stitch of the week. I am 57 and started my crochet journey 10 months ago and I am passionate about it. I am now getting commisions for my blankets and afghans. Love your journal set up. By the way I hold my crochet hook like a knife it works better for me. Hooked by Robyn is also good and crochet with Tiffany! I hope this helps you.

Aww thank you so much for the sweet comment and the recommendations! Will definitely check them out ☺️ love that you found crocheting and are so passionate about that! I’m sure your works are beautiful 😍 I would love to make a blanket as well but I’m still a bit afraid to start since it’s a big project, but hopefully later this year!

I love this video sooooo much omg🥰 I have been journaling for like 5 years now and I started teaching myself crochet 1.5 year ago, when yesterday I got a sudden idea of keeping track of crochet stuff. This is perfect, thank you!!😍 ps I'm a Dutch girl so I'd definitely also make a seperate chart for my native language, I've actually been avoiding Dutch patterns because I started learning with US terms and otherwise it confuses me!

I enjoyed your video. However, just because yarn is made with animal fiber does not necessarily mean that the yarn is not ethically produced. Be careful about spreading this misinformation. Also, animal fiber yarn is "natural" fibers.

Happy to hear you enjoyed it and thanks for watching! And yes animal fibers can be ethically produced as well and they are natural fibers. I was just explaining my thought process when I’m choosing the yarn and as a vegan I don’t buy animal fibers 😄
