Finally a good video that shows every step. I have one question. I want to change the original 18650 battery to 2 or 3 new 18650. Do I need any battery management circuit or can I use the existing one in the speaker?

you can use 1 battery manager existing for 2 or 3 new 18650 battery !

Hey, please report back on this! Gonna get this speaker and want to upgrade it right away. Any idea if there's a maximum number of batteries I should connect? I have a bunch and it looks like 5 or 6 could fit

Hey! I kind of forgot this for a while, but I finally got 5 batteries from a power bank. I will try today and tell you if it works. :)

I just finished it with 5 x 18650 batteries. I still have to see if it charges correctly, but it definately fits inside. I can send you some pictures if you want.

Hei. Do You change the battery for 22650 or its original. I think original it's a 18650. I have plan to make a bigger battery pack but I don't know how big. If hold 7-8 hours at 80%volume will be fine I think

original battery onyx studio 4 use 18650 - 2500 mah ! and play mussic about 3h at 80% volume . if you want play longer ! u must use 2 battery 18650 or use 22650 (4500mah ) ! and don't use cover battery box ! you can chat me by nick face book : Rang Ngo Ngoc

in my Studio 4 the screws were all phillips. No torx/star anywhere. And that plastic pry tool they supply when you buy the replacement battery kit was not strong enough to pry the cover off. It was a real pain. And as mentioned earlier here, the starbit screwdriver was useless since mine was put together with phillips head screws- from the factory.

In the warning pamphlet from the box, it said that there was a laser in the speaker that would be dangerous. Do you know what this laser in the bluetooth speaker is? Just wondering why there would be a laser in a speaker.

@@deltamobile5325 Yeah. I was wondering the same thing. The safety manual said that the product uses a laser system. "To prevent direct exposure to the laser beam, do not open the cabinet enclosure or defeat any of the safety mechanisms provided for your protection. DO NOT STARE INTO THE LASER BEAM" CLASS 1 LASER PRODUCT." This is from the safety manual. Great video btw!

Mine turns on but none of the lights besides the power button turn on, and I cannot connect to it. I opened it up and the connections are secure. Does anyone know how to reset (bluetooth + volume up or down does not work), or troubleshoot this issue?

Yeah i experienced the same thing... blown Bass... now it sounds like a busted speaker. Mine is almost 4 years old... Anyone has replace the damaged parts successfully? HK do not entertain model older than 4 years, they claim no more parts available.

Yes, you will loose the warranty if you open the cover, if you want to remove the cover, wait untill the warranty expired

Although I have a Onyx Studio 4, my battery connector is mounted on one of the sides of the red 3000mA 3,7V= 11,1W battery, and not in the middle as in this video. Strange that HK uses two different types of battery connectors for this series. Unfortunately I see no room to make and fit a larger battery pack more powerful battery pack in this speaker.

yes ! onyx4 have 4 types battery connector ! 1/ 3 pin conector ( you see on my clip ! ) 2/ 4 pin connector if you want to upgrade to larger battery , you don't put new battery to original battery box ! keep it out battery box and use glue !

add battery in parallel only ! don't serie your speaker will be died!

@@deltamobile5325 asking because it works at 19V from wall power, but only 3.7V from battery... So there's a (small) chance that going to double voltage could enhance the power... But really depends on the power circuit....

I would like to run something by all of you that are adding batteries, already added more batteries or anyone that is just “IN THE KNOW” about speaker airspace. Wouldn’t adding more batteries mess up the amount of air space that is needed for the speakers to work properly. To me, it would seem as though it would. I would think that it would be similar to putting a subwoofer in a box that was way too big or way too small, per the recommendation from the manufacturer, and you wouldn’t get the same sound quality that you would if you didn’t mess with the airspace!?!?!? I’m sure Harmon/Kardon spent a lot of time and money on R&D while designing this speaker and I would imagine that they put these speakers in this case with the optimal amount of airspace. Now, I don’t know the answer to this scenario and that is simply why I am asking. I would like to add a few more batteries to mine if it doesn’t effect the sound quality. Thanks in advance. Yes I already know that I am a tad bit late for the party, however, I am most certain that you all won’t mind… right??? Lol. I mean, “better late than never”!!! AMIRITE??? 😂😂😂
