Really like your camper. Sounds like you're going on a lot of trips... and long range ones at that, so this rig will get a lot of use, which equals a lot of wear and tear. That said, a couple of suggestions. First, consider getting 'Bearing Buddies' for your wheel hubs. Once you do, you'll never want to be without them. Second, the Harbor Freight (as well as other brands) of wheels/tires are very affordable, so consider getting a second spare, because on a 1600 mile trip, you will find yourself in the middle of nowhere quite often, and if you suffer a flat tire out there, whose to say you won't suffer another flat 10 miles later... you never know. So double up on the spares. I keep 2 spares and a trailer jacking system in the trunk of my car whenever I pull my Harbor Freight trailer. Also, you may not have heard about the Harbor Freight trailer tire recall. Turns out the tires are weak and prone to failure when your trailer's at near gross weight... which yours may well be. You can just take the tires and wheels off your trailer and return them to Harbor Freight (your spare too) and they'll give you a new set of much stronger tires and wheels for free. Anyway, cool camper! Good job.

Thank you very much! I have abut 5000 miles on this camper now. I did get the recall notice, but the tires on my trailer weren't on the list. I was hoping for new tires because I need them! lol

@agamemnom7 жыл бұрын
if you go boondocking anywhere you could add a hook or something onto the roof for a solar shower bag, you can get ones that hold around 5 gallons for $10 to $20 and once the waters up to temp if you transfered it into one of those pump action garden sprayers you would have some water with some pressure to it for a quick hose down shower :)
@ringomayhem7 жыл бұрын
i like the idea of the pump sprayer with a sink sprayer on the end. Thanks for the ideas!

Joe...Where did you get yout outside skin for your camper? ...Lowes, Home Depot, other place & What was the price per sheet? How many sheets did it take for your camper & does thst include the roof too. I am collecting materials to build my own 125 inch x 80 inch camper on a pop-up frame this winter. So thanks for your assistance, Joe !,

I just watched your camper build videos - great series! Your build is exactly what I have been thinking of for my build project, for the most part. I would add a tongue box to get the battery out of the camper and a compartment in the floor for stowage, and I had not considered the use of shower plastic for the covering, but otherwise same idea. If you do not mind, could you tell me what you would change and how to be more efficient now that you have done this and gotten some use out of it?
@ringomayhem7 жыл бұрын
I don't think I would use the same stuff for the skin. I found an amish guy that deals in tin and has rolls of aluminum as well, so I'd use that. I'd put the windows up a little higher so they weren't so close to the bed. I would make a battery box on the tongue. I am glad about where I put the door, and that I didn't put in a galley. I have had no need for a whole kitchen on the back. I mounted a removable shelf on the side and thats plenty for cooking and holding my beer. As for the door, I keep my feet at that end. If you camp in the winter the door will frost up and its terrible to roll up against a frozen door in the middle of the night. I hope that helps ya some. Thanks for watching and let me know if I can answer anything else!

Nice build , but what did you use for the trailer skin ? Thanks . Your good friend Vinny in good old Fla.
@ringomayhem4 жыл бұрын
Hey Vinny! I used FRP sheets over plywood. It worked and looked fine but it wasn't light. I would do it different if i built another.

Glad you enjoyed the video. The trim is just called roof edge molding, and has a place to insert the colored PVC. Here is a link to it.. teardroptrailerparts.com/Hinges___Aluminum_Trim.html

@ringomayhem7 жыл бұрын

It's not overweight with the build alone? Build a bed frame with underneath storage? I don't see a fridge or ac. What is the weight limit and cost of those trailers?
@ringomayhem6 жыл бұрын
It is probably a little overweight, to be honest. They run on sale about $259 to $350 not on sale.The AC is in the back. Cooler works for a fridge. The weight limit is 1200# they also make one with a weight limit of 1700# and thats a little more expensive.

I just got back from a trip. I have about 3500 miles on the trailer. Its holding up, but there are some issues. I will have a video out about it in the next couple days. Keep an eye out for that one.

steve gooder the tires are 12 inch tires. I've run 80 down the highway for long stretches without an issue. I normally run the speed limit. 70 mph hasn't been a problem.
