Great progress, I would suggest a rubber mallet to get that bottom cradle off, best method I used was giving a good couple of taps on all sides while retaining a good amount of pressure on your pry bar(s). The cradle itself is held down by the bolts yes, but also metal alignments dowels in the block. Don't fret if the dowels come out with the cradle, they can be left in and will press back in when time to install. Not too sure what the budget is but I'd go the route of ARP main studs too, as the bolts you took out of that bottom cradle (they hold the crankshaft main bearings too) are "torque-to-yield" and in most cases shouldn't be used after they are removed (integrity of bolts is greatly reduced) once initially torqued. If you haven't picked bearings and/or rings out yet I had good experience with King Bearings and Nippon Racing for rings Keep up the good work man!

wait... it makes sense but just to be clear, I have the arp head studs but I can also get arp main studs? which are the studs that held the cradle?? and yes sirrr, just copped a mallet today, I'ma bout to go ham on this bish! 😂😂😂😂

If that round peace is rubber it's a o ring that sits up top under the center brace for camshafts. If it fell out last time u put your head on its definitely a reason for engine failure.

What good man! I got into a lude a couple months ago and have been working on it and stumbled on your video while doing research! I am more of a body man myself and my content has focused on that since mechanics are also not my cup of tea. i know this is an old vid. but make sure you check the front cover and the rear main because sometimes those cradles can be bolted to them. also for your head i suggest to get a micro fiber cloth so you can lay the head down and have no risk of damaging the surface. (also the "burnt dust" is carbon build up from combustion)

use a deadblow hammer or rubber mallet to get that cradle off. keep hitting it from all directions until it cracks loose

I kind of miss my Lude. I had a 4th Gen with a 5 lug conversion. Wondering if you’re interested in vintage AEM big rotor upgrade all around with red hat, Jun Lightweight flywheel and clutch master stage 3? I’ve never installed them, just sat in the basement. Something that might help you out next time do not use the extension while trying to un torque the head studs it's eating up half of your power of the tool.

Gently tap with a rubber mallet it will break free also penetrating lubericant. Your pistons are caked with carbon deposits. Not a big deal- u can get this kit at your local automotive store that breaks it down. Ill try and find a link for the US version. Thats spring looks like a O ring which the are know to fall out mainly from your oil pump. Not a big deal-just replace all ur gaskets. Do yourself a favour. If your keeping the lude for a long time buy yourself new parts. -complete engine gasket kit from Honda $115.99 -light weight flywheel if u like ripping your lude -stage 2 clutch -timing belt/chain -water pump gaskets **cannot stress enough! Change those piston rings(gaskets) If you are stuck or anything let me know I’m happy to help! So far your doing good! H22 motors are fun to rebuild same with K series motors. Msg me if your ever stuck

no way!? I didn't know Honda sold a gasket kit -_- I already have a number of parts coming in but I'ma see if I can find that gasket kit plus that other kit to help break down the carb build up on the valves. Thanks a lot for the tips bro!

@@Garage-97 i need that gasket kit part number as well. gonna be rebuilding an h22a4....im replacing the pistons too, i think the whole rebuild kit with pistons is around $600 plus some extra expenses for timing belt kit. i already got a fresh transmission ready for it

Hey Bro! My buddy at honda says that kit is near impossible to find now a days. Kit number HS26411PT. Theres aftermarket ones that will work. Just make sure they are for your motor and not cheap gaskets. My buddy may have 1 extra in his shop. He will let me know in the next day or so. If he has it, ill send it to you

🤯🤯🤯 I didn't think about that, hopefully not because I did change those seals when the head was rebuilt a couple of years ago. Someone else suggest it could be from the oil pump, I hope he's right, cause I ain't tryin to mess with the valvetrain again 😂😂😂
