The production quality never ceases to amaze me. It's so good for such a small channel I always forget this isn't a 1M+ channel. I can see it in the future though :D

Subaru timing idlers are Koyo and SKF(?). Black rings are double bearings. Those green ones are single bearing, cheap and will wear out faster. They are not Subaru. I'd go with an Aisin or a Subaru timing kit maybe with the blue turbo belt.

Man those guides eat through quick. I bought a used outback a while ago, previous owner did his own timing belt… I took a peak when I brought it home. He set the guide such that it was making contact with and putting pressure on the belt! Had quite a few timing belt shavings as well 😂. Looks like you will get this done in no time!

Thank god you checked! Hopefully the Outback is running smooth with a fresh new belt 🙃

Double check your rear shock mounts. They are known to rust completely out! Love the new daily!

That was the first thing I checked when I bought the car 😅 there’s some rust starting but not bad! Thanks Chris 🙌🏼
@Chris05STi19822 жыл бұрын
@@DanielKellert if you can find it use Evaporust to soak parts. It will eat all the rust off and leave the bare metal. Definitely advise if you see rust on the towers to wire wheel it and treat it so it won’t spread. When rebuilding my Wrx I soaked tons of parts in a 5 gallon bucket using Evaporust and it made it easier for me to powder coat and clean old parts that had a ton of rust

might want to time sert those timing pully threads, kind of a critical point of failure
@DanielKellert2 жыл бұрын
I love when people who actually know that they are talking about comment on the videos 👍🏼 makes me happy 🙃. If I have any doubts after I clean up the threads, they will be getting heli coils or a time sert 👌🏼
@bash55522 жыл бұрын
@@DanielKellert Thank you Sir! I can now sleep soundly not worrying about those threads failing on you, yes, I am ocd lol, also, i have been there, done that so, learned the hard way as it were. That block material is softer then people realize, especially against steel bolts. I even hesitate to use any power tools on any faster that goes into the block or heads but to each their own, some tools are very low power and can be used correctly.

I've only ever stripped a bug engine down to the block, but why not just order new heads instead of machining the existing ones?
@DanielKellert2 жыл бұрын
Resurfacing the heads costs about $130…. Replacing the cylinder heads completely would be around $1500-$2000. 😅

Wow, butchered. 😮 When you go look for trouble, more times than not, you will find trouble. But better to find trouble first, before it finds you. Yes?
