I've seen some people question the time put into rebuilding farm machinery on several tractor videos. I grew up on 400 acres or so that was leased out to cattle and sheep, for the most part, so my 12 to 17 hour days, 6 days a week, were as a paid laborer on another farm in the summers from 8th grade through college. My boss was a fair and hard working man who loved his kids and never had problems with equipment (other than what some bailing wire would take care of until winter and more time to do a real fix). After putting his fields to rest for the winter, he spent each working day going through each piece of equipment making sure everything that could be done was done to ensure long life and reliability. By the time spring came, everything was beautiful and ran smoothly. Each year he seemed to add another thing that he had purchased at a deep discount that would benefit his growing farm. Because of his diligence he continued to purchase and lease more land around him so his hardware needs grew. After getting his current fleet "perfect" he would then dig into the new piece of equipment. Each was normally done by spring. He would sell off his "perfected" smaller or older one and move forward with the larger and/or more modern device. Unlike some neighbors who spent the winters skiing, he invested each day. Work always stopped when his girls showed up and they all learned to have fun turning wrenches and finding the grease points. I've yet to meet a man who had a better relationship with his girls. They spent hours talking in the shop. He also got to know all of their boyfriends as he would hire them because of his "desperate need" for help to get that old thing ready for spring. I've yet to meet a man who knew the boys dating his girls like this man did. He changed the vectors of their lives. Even the ones who did not end up as husbands.

Pete, I find your videos to give a feeling i never before felt. Like nostalgia, but with more of entrapment. I dont want you to ever change your ways but to simply understand them. Your videos reflect your attitude towards life, simplisity. From the car you drive, to your outlook on life, you keep the same simple lifestyle. These videos show that you do things the ways they have always been done. You have old solutions to old problems and new problems arnt as a concern. I guess what I am trying to say is that your videos are like the good old days. We love the good old days, but theres a reason were not in them anymore.

Oh yes! We waited all year for this. I subscribe to the the Sobkowiak idea that if you expect to fail the first time on a farm project then you won't be too disappointed. If it was all easy it would be boring my friend. Personally I'm trying to get an old GT 3000 garden tractor running for my small orchard. The gas cap broke and was funneling pure refreshing pacific northwest rain into the tank and now the carb is full of some sort of microbrew. Heh. Maybe I'm in the wrong business.

I’m in that boat already. I hope you have better luck than I am having. I bought a 41 m and driving home, and finding out that the head was cracked in no. 3 exhaust port. I tore into into it, that turned into “uh-oh” there’s more? Ok then let’s go a bit farther which turned into holy cow, now I have to go farther which turned into a whole lot of expletives and amazement that the tractor even ran decent let alone drove home. Needless to say after a totally complete tear down and end to end top to bottom and side to side overhaul of EVERYTHING! When I get done with it I’ll have a very beautifully restored m and I have added a few goodies too. I wish you better luck 🍀 than I’ve been having and when you are done that you fun with it. May you have a merry Christmas and a happy new year!

I got a big grin on my face when you said “okie doke”. A quintessential Midwestern phrase. It can mean a lot of things including but not limited to, “sounds good” to “looks good” and where I come from in northeast ND it’s most popularly used as the final phrase in ending a phone call or conversation as the precursor to goodbye or see ya later! Still widely and popularly used today! No idea where the origin came from, I’ll have to look it up! Thanks Pete, good stuff!😁

That tractor reminds me of when i used to work at a chemical plant that made fertilizer, they had two old ford 3500 diesel tractors that i had too separate, it had a tranmission oil leak in the torque coverter the same process, i must say it was a challenge for me because i never did such service on a tractor before, i primarily work on the forklift trucks. If i remember correctly they had 3 cylinder diesel engines and where made in england. What a experience it was LOL .
