Tearing into the Stihl 048

I got my 048 rebuilt 2 yrs ago. Needed a new top end as well. Had to hunt around ebay to find the parts. But she's alive now, ported and running a bark box. She is a screamer.

When we pulled this one apart. We found more issue, so I sold it for parts

This chainsaw had other issues as well when I seriously started inspecting parts, so it became a parts saw for someone else! Thanks for the view

I put new piston and after 5 min working she off and new piston have dashes what i need to do ? Thx

Without seeing it personally I can only assume what has happened, and what might be. So either you still had some carbon in the cylinder or someplace in the chambers of the saw, or possibly sucked in some junk and debris. If the “scratches are really light and not affecting the saw they may be just wear in marks, but if they are deep then something got in there or the wrong fuel mix was used.

Eu tenho uma que era do meu pai está com o mesmo problema montei uma junta nova e meti pressão para dentro do motor.Tem fuga na união dos dois blocos do carter.Quando for repar vou por silicone de juntas junto com a junta.E a fuga era do lado do escapamento igual ao seu problema.

Mine got placed in the parts bin, for other saws that will need help in the future, it had more issues then just case leaks and top end work. So it will help my neighbors when they need parts
