The greatest female stand-up comic! A legend! When I was in college, I had the honor of interviewing Joan for my college magazine. We had brunch at her hotel in Manhattan - she was warm, funny, gracious and kind! I even met her husband Edgar - a true English gentleman. Thank you Joan!

Joan’s 2007 interview with legendary Sir Billy Connolly’s wife Pamela Stephenson brought me here! Pamela’s a New Zealand born clinical psychologist who had a really popular show in the UK called Shrink Rap: Robin Williams, Sharon Osborne, Gene Simmons, Carrie Fisher, Tony Curtis, Kathleen Turner, Salman Rushdie, Stephen Fry and JOAN RIVERS all appeared on that show. Joan cited this film as therapy for herself and her daughter after her husband Edgar passed. I’m re-watching her comeback documentary, a piece of work, straight after….no one even asked 😂
@Doctor.Kästien.Louis.Rosenberg3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for uploading this movie. I adore Joan Rivers . I was lucky enough to meet Joan a few times, and she gave my mother ( who’s maiden name is Rosenberg, which was Joan’s married name in reality ) a beautiful large colour photograph of herself signed and dedicated to my mother . Joan gave me the same beautiful photo, she dedicated it to me , and signed it . She said to me that when I pass my medical degree to become an MD that she’d hire me to treat her , and that I could make a lot of money doing plastic surgery 😁. I was lucky to see Joan in theatres and her shows were so funny . The world lost the Queen Of Comedy when Joan Rivers passed . I bet Joan is making G-d laugh in Heaven . I love you Miss Joan Rivers, and Messisa and Cooper . 💯💓💞🌈 I dedicate the following to Joan 💯🌹 THE ROSE 🌹BEYOND THE WALL - Near a shady wall a rose once grew, Budded and blossomed in God's free light, Watered and fed by the morning dew, Shedding it's sweetness day and night. As it grew and blossomed fair and tall, Slowly rising to loftier height, It came to a crevice in the wall Through which there shone a beam of light. Onward it crept with added strength With never a thought of fear or pride, It followed the light through the crevice's length And unfolded itself on the other side. The light, the dew, the broadening view Were found the same as they were before, And it lost itself in beauties new, Breathing it's fragrance more and more. Shall claim of death cause us to grieve And make our courage faint and fall? Nay! Let us faith and hope receive-- The rose still grows beyond the wall, Scattering fragrance far and wide Just as it did in days of yore, Just as it did on the other side, Just as it will forever-more. The Rose Beyond The Wall A rose once grew where all could see, sheltered beside a garden wall, And as the days passed swiftly by, it spread its branches, straight and tall... One day, a beam of light shone through a crevice that had opened wide The rose bent gently toward its warmth then passed beyond to the other side Now, you who deeply feel its loss, be comforted - the rose blooms there- its beauty even greater now, nurtured by God's own loving care.

Joan and Melissa Rivers, legends in their own rights. This movie had me in tears. The writing, the acting, the story....just phenomenal. Joan Rivers' story is one to be remembered fondly for all time. May she rest in peace with her husband Edgar and look down upon their daughter Melissa.

in 17:15 that is when Joan just snaps because back then people didn't talk about being sick or mental illness they just medicated you and hope that you got better- She just looks at all those pills that did not help Edgar at all instead he decided it was best to take his own life - so I can understand her rage and furry that she let it out in that moment which is so heartbreaking to watch, yes she is angry at Edgar for doing what he did to them but it was not his fault he was very sick - had he been treated today his suicide could have been prevented.

I was fortunate to see Joan Rivers in Broadway Bound, the third play in the Neil Simon Trilogy, the other two being Brighton Beach Memoirs and Biloxi Blues. Joan was a replacement and came in for the final months of the run. She was BRILLIANT! I only wish she had opened the play instead of closed it. I also saw her in Sally Mar on Broadway, in which she gave another stellar turn. She was also lovely to her fans, having met her at the taping of her daytime talk show and at Newark Airport with her dog Spike. She is inimitable, a true comedic icon who will forever be greatly missed and adored by millions. I didn't cry at my mother's funeral, but I cried for months when Joan passed. You will never be forgotten.

I really enjoyed her fixating on the audience's muted response to her dating so soon again after the suicide. Men and women are equally bad about judging others for not waiting an "appropriate" amount of time after a life partner has died on them.

The Yom Kippur scene, where their reserved seats were brazenly given away, and the door was brusquely slammed in their faces was a bit hard to swallow. That was Joan Effing Rivers. Maybe that's how they felt Life/God was treating them, but, it's hard to imagine that the guy at the door would ever have treated them that way. I don't think New Yorkers are tha-a-at rude.

@@nerdism854that actually happened though and Joan was pissed about it. She’s discussed it in interviews before. I do think they changed it a bit for the movie, because to hear Joan tell it, someone (maybe the hotel or the corner’s office) called and Melissa answered the phone. The caller asked if Joan was there and when Melissa said no the caller told her to let Joan know that Edgar had committed suicide.
