And to think that Roland's father thought his voice wasn't good... thank goodness, Roland didn't listen and kept going. His voice gets me through the day, every day.

IMHO, Curt has a nice, soothing, but sometimes almost sorrowful, voice, while Roland's hypnotic and powerful voice reaches one's soul in a way that very few can. Again, opinions vary and that is what is wondeful about having a venue to express what you think.
@ria98742 жыл бұрын
I feel that way exactly. Roland is a master of lyrics of voice and of talent
@sitazin Жыл бұрын
i feel similar way, i feel like Curt gives me a very melancholic and deeply soothing sound that i love and then Roland provides that powerful upbeat and rangeful sound that makes this a perfect balance of emotions 🥰
@sitazin Жыл бұрын
but i have to say both of thier voices are hauntingly good i can’t stop listening esp w Roland’s voice like on the working hour
@bubblevision15 жыл бұрын
A lot of people at the time thought that Curt did all the singing because his face was always promoted more and people saw him as the singer in the "Mad World" and "Change" videos etc.. But for me, Roland's voice is in a different league. So much range and so much power as he switches out of the falsetto. And yeah, Ian Stanley totally missed that note in the sax at the end lol

Roland was interviewed by Radio 5 in 2014 and said that Curt was the better singer in the early years, considered his own voice strained and unrefined. I tend to agree with him: Curt had a sweeter tone that was better suited to radio.

cometoanend, You hit the nail on the head about both Roland and Curt. I love Curt's lower range. When he sings like "mad world" EWTWTW he really grabs you. He still has that range and it sounds great!! I just think he working and playing with his voice most singer do. Roland has done the same thing too. He does not sing as low as he used either. I like Roland's mid-range. For me that is Roland's butter zone. In the video you could tell that not only he could sing but U knew he would last.
@truthaintpretty13 жыл бұрын
This needs to be released on DVD (or was it already?). Hard to believe this was almost 30 years ago. Still love The Hurting and Big Chair. Roland is so underrated as a musician! Way too much talent to be merely categorized as another "80's band". Love 80's bands too, but these guys are more than that. Love Tears For Fears! This footage is a treasure!

they get the most out of such small things, and they build upon it more and more. (ex.) the sax is used so sparcely yet giving us so much with what is given. Arrangent is the same way. Lyrics are the same way. It forces you to listen more carefully.

I bet many people didint like this angel voice but this is amazing im obsessed and im proud that he didi'nt care and still followed his dream. I love Roland so much, he is my role model fr, i alwyas look up to him when i feel down. His voice and vocals are everything to make me feel loved. I just love him so deeply.
