This is so sad. Many innocent people living their ordinary life suddenly had everything change and were sent to a battlefield (without any combat ecperience) to fight a meaningless war because their leader wants personal glory because he knows his time is almost up and wants to go down in the history books. Poor wives, children and mothers seeing their husbands, fathers, and sons leave who may not possibly return. Breaks my heart. They can't even speak out against the war because they are imprisioned or sent to camps 😔

Many of these men will join the war with three months training or less. I remember my old cousin joined the army when he was 17 along with a dozen of his college mates to fight in Vietnam war. Similar training period as these men will have. Half died in a week as they were put on front line straight away. Lucky my cousin survived, but he became an alcoholic ever since he came home. Then, Russia occupied Crimea without any proper handover. I spent 2 years in active service before moving into the reserves with annual training. Even then, I would consider myself a little rusty, less fit now and absolutely terrified if I had to go to war. Genuinely baffled why Russia would indiscriminately call up civilians with no formal training. What happen to all their former conscripts that have served in the past decade, that should actually be the “reserve”?
