As for Spotify, I've mentioned this a few times to other people, but I'll go over it here for you: Spotify is pretty strict when it comes to stuff like fansongs and remixes. Even without that, to upload songs to Spotify requires payment, and in return, Spotify pays less than a cent for every time the song is listened to. So...not exactly affordable for me right now. So, I'm very flattered, but Spotify is a complicated matter. This'll be a long one, so only read this when you have time. To distribute songs as an artist, you have to pay a fee that starts at a minimum of about 10 USD. When I say fee, in the 10 USD case I mean 10 per song. 20 USD yearly is also an option. This is because Spotify doesn't have artists upload songs directly but through a company. Now, if the payout was worth it, then I would absolutely do this, but it's kind of…not. For every time a song is streamed, the artist is paid, at most, 0.005 USD. To make up for the cost of uploading a song, it would have to be listened to 2,000 times. A yearly fee would be made up for by 4,000 streams. I don't really have a guarantee of that happening. That's not even bringing up the fact that putting remixes, covers, and songs based on properties not my own on Spotify would be a bit dicey. To put it simply, while I would like to put all my work on Spotify, as an artist it would likely be a net loss.
