I liked the depths, the ambience down there keeps you on edge and constantly reminds you that you are in ganondorf’s domain The lack of vibrancy and interesting landmarks down there paints an unsettling contrast with the overworld - look around you, and you will have no idea where you are. You cannot remember this place. It really does feel like you shouldn’t be exploring down here, which if intended then awesome Only thing I think the depths should have had are actual threats that keep the tension alive, like super powerful gloom monsters similar to the overworld dragons which search around to kill you

Nintendo is all about Innovation when you look at it from the long term Perspektive. I see TotK as a BIG step forward in the learning process of what Video Games are becoming. My aunt has a pretty big house. She is a Nerd. A big room in her basement is decicated to Video Games. It's fascinating to play old consoles like the Atari and the NES and read early 80s Video Games Magazines. It's like watching humanity taking a big leap forward. How we tell stories. How we play games. I grew up nearby an ancient Roman Colony, Colonia Ultopia Agrippina. The Museum there has ancient games Roman kids and adults played. Our Evolution seems like a miracle and I love the idea that Video games connect people all over the World, and that the Lore around Legend of Zelda is a part of uniting people.

i think people still have their nostalgia goggles on and with botw and totk being so different from older zelda games, they can't really accept them as zelda games, so they find any reasons they can to hate on them. that's not to say that botw and totk are flawless, i have my gripes with both, but so much of the hate i see is people being unable to accept that the zelda formula has evolved with the times. and these people are a vocal minority anyway, there are so many more people who genuinely enjoy the games

I was there _ when they said SS was suck because of the control and the story... I was there _ when they said BOTW was enough zelda... As someone who loves the Depths is wish so badly there was more to do down there. I love the atmosphere of the game, I even tried to play the game by immediately going into the depths without the paraglider after getting off the tutorial island. It was pretty damn hard and not having the paraglider felt miserable. But even with the added difficulty, which I would've hope would help make playing down there more interesting, it still didn't take too long for me to get bored of the same patterns. It almost makes me regret that they added it to the game when they could've used that time and resources to add more depth to the sky islands.

There’s quite a bit down there if you care about it. The depths are my favorite part of the game actually. Hardest combat, bosses, battery upgrades and rarer materials, poes, uncorrupted weapons (which get better as the game scales the difficulty and you keep taking them. After a few blood moons the weapons will become really good with high durability and great for fusing), schematics, some quests, auto build, 2 dungeons and the final area of the game, armor, lightroots (which lead you to shrines above). The content down there is different from everything on the surface on purpose, but there’s still a lot to do. People who say there’s not much…you’re just wrong. Maybe you don’t like the content or understand it, but there is absolutely stuff to do down there.

@Random1567 ah, no you're right. My statement is more of an exaggeration when you put it like that. It's just I've done most of those things and just wish there was more ;-; I especially their were more unique things to the depths. Like maybe some weird puzzles down there

@@lcding8349 1. Same 3 weapon movesets from the last game that fuse added nothing to (3 is already a pitiful amount to start with from the last game) 2. Same unorganized menus for clothing and resources as the last game but with more stuff to make it even worse 3. "Puzzles" in every shrine and dungeon across the map that never amount to more than the same individual tasks I was taught in the tutorial 4. 1/3 shrines in the game are blessing which means there is nothing to do but collect a reward (7 shrines are tutorials of the same combat options the game gives a pop-up menu for during the tutorial on the Great Sky Island) 5. Pausing to heal + flurry rush (if you can even consistently to it) removes all challenge in combat (especially when you can't die in one hit when at full hearts). Upgraded armour also breaks combat 6. Can't dodge unless locked on (Link had a roll maneuver since the dawn of the 3D games and Nintendo blatantly took that away for a stupid lock-on only dodge) 7. The dragon tear structure for the story spoiled many plot points early because it's a linear story being told this time around 8. Sky islands are sparse and copy pasted 9. Depths are one bland biome (minus Death Mountain) with the same enemy camps you can find on the surface with the same enemies but now they deal gloom damage without giving you more reward beyond a singular zonaite drop 10. Sages crowd the screen constantly and are mighty useless when I have other options to do the same things they can do 11. "Quick menu" is a straight line of literally every single item you've picked up in the game to sift through (good choice 👌 It really added to the gameplay) 12. Dungeons are still the same "complete 5 individual tasks with no navigational challenge before being allowed to fight the boss" as the last game (now the dungeons don't have the thing that made the dungeons from BotW unique) 13. Weapon rewards in this game mean nothing when everything breaks eventually I could go on and on and on but I think I've made my point. They really dropped the ball with this game

You're not missing out on much, they didn't add much to justify this game's existence. It's less a sequel to Breath of the Wild and more like a remix/ROM hack. If you're not too invested in Ultrahand and some of the QoL changes they added, there aren't many things worth mentioning that are better than what Breath of the Wild offered.

We're upset that Nintendo blatantly let the entire rest of the game fall to the wayside because they decided to spend all their time on a building mechanic that believe it or not, most players won't spend much time engaging with beyond making the bare minimum to get the job done. Nintendo didn't even encourage players to get creative beyond giving us all the tools to work with but again, a vast majority of players aren't the ones making the insane zonai contraptions in the online videos only to have 5 minutes of fun before they despawn

The nerds barely had enough to eat unfortunately: the Zonai descended, coexisted and worked with Hylians, at some point Rauru founded this version of Hyrule, Ganondorf stole ultimate power and got sealed, Zelda sacrificed herself to heal the sword. Background stuff like Koume/Kotake are hinted at but never utilized. We barely know anything of the time that's the center of the story being told. A lot of tell rather than show, and even then telling by repetition rather than develop. The sky has ruins of the Zonai civilization with nothing too concrete. The Depths have nothing concrete besides Zonai mines, a mirror concept that's interesting on a technical level but doesn't tell anything, and vaguely ties to old lore with random easter eggs (reused BOTW DLC). I think that's about it, the concepts and backstory are cool and we get a few great cutscenes, but story telling is really at a minimum. I know it's a trend to call these negative views as a "hate trend" but looking at all the content creators who would _love_ to have a lot to say, they just didn't. Some did and besides reviews and debates, it's a few "ghost town" videos or dungeon analyses.

I honestly don't see how you can review Tears and Sonic Frontiers, both undercooked games, and call that one mediocre while this one is a masterpiece. Especially when the writing and dungeons are so much worse than BotW and Sonic doesn't overstay its welcome with nearly as much with bloated content.

I do agree that TOTK is slightly bloated in its main story, which is why I disliked Mineru's quest but I also feel that Sonic frontiers overstayed its welcome as well. However TOTK imo has a better foundation from BOTW so the main gameplay loop is still really fun as compared to Sonic frontiers which I feel gets boring much faster (which is why i like that there is a lot of content in TOTK and dislike it about frontiers). I think the dungeon themes and abilities make them better than BOTW, and yeah honestly the writing in this game is not great i agree but sonic frontiers was just not that fun for me and the world itself was incredibly generic so I lost interest quick

That's mostly it. People are missing the forest for the trees. These additional layers are often looked at as if they were supposed to be their own standalone overworlds, when that's just not how this game is designed. Depths and Sky are seamless, vertical extensions of the surface and the journey to them is actually part of the exploration. This isn't like Skyward Sword, where the Sky map was completely separate and detached from the surface.

*Right, cause let's completely ignore the fact that--* TotK's story is bad, Fs with pre-established key lore aspects, absolutely shatters all the Master Sword's reputation, unga bunga buff Dorf with little to no ambition other than "me strongest there is" uninteresting, nearly everyone forgot who you were despite this game taking place a mere 4-6 years after Wild, Rauru existing is an insult, no Fi, no breaking of the Demise curse despite it being falsely hinted being the case what with all the Skyward Sword PR this game got (I distinctly remember Skyward Sword being advertised as heavily linked to TotK somehow which, again, is misleading as on Nintendo's part), no dog petting, no hookshot spiderman swinging with the physics being suuuuch a driving factor in these newer Zelda games, no underwater exploration instead a damp dark smelly overgrown cave can't see jack, COLLOSAL missed opportunity to hitch the princess with her handsome knight in shining armor, no stakes since Zelda's sacrifice was reversed giving the story little to no agency or consequence, Link as a protagonist felt nonexistent feels like everyone else was the star of the show not the guy who's saving all their 🫏s, no Link backstory before any of this went down aka no Arryl 2 or Granny 2 aka NOT WIND WAKER, didn't make me cry like Twilight Princess, dungeons are STILL NOT dungeons (pulling a couple levers to open a door and then be treated with literally the same copy-paste cutscene at the very end with each champion? Yeah naw), sky islands hardly anything worth noting although they are pretty asf to look at, I was expecting a totally NEW revamped endgame super Saiyan master sword golden tier 4 legendary new hilt new everything but naw same design with a booboo scar and hilariously less powerful... hoverbike autobuild pales in comparison to THE Master Cycle As a game, sure, it's leagues above BotW but BotW will never be topped as a one-in-a-lifetime experience. TotK was an overblown $70 DLC and I'm tired of pretending it's not. Mid.
