And today history is made by FT8WW working 3Y0J! Rock on!

Many thanks for your effort. That's a new one for me on digital (#318) and it's the last one apart from north Korea that I needed on CW. Unfortunately when P5/4L4FN was there he was allowed to use SSB and RTTY but not CW! Anyway, thanks for the QSOs on 4 bands

I spent practically 20 days chasing this ATNO. He spent 90% of the time on 30m FT8, a band that I don't have an antenna. I coupled my Yagi 10/15/20 and kept trying but I could rarely hear it. One day I was lucky to hear it and I got it. A few days later I came across him calling CQ on CW 15m and before the pilup starts and managed to get another contact. Undoubtedly the hardest ATNO I've ever worked on even with Brazil's geographical advantage. In any case alone in this endeavor and with the constraints imposed, he is achieving miracles. 73 from PY2JF

"90% of the time on 30m" ? Looking on ClubLog statistics: 30 : 36.4% 20 : 39.1% 15 : 18.4% Anyway I see that you are 3 times in the log (20m CW, 20m FT8 and 30m FT8). Many would like to have as many ;) 73

Agree Patrick. What about some more SSB? There wasn’t a whole lot of SSB, at least from what I found on the clusters. Will there be at least an emphasis on more SSB? Not trying to be rude. I think what you all are doing is to be commended. Congratulations on the extension for working longer. Good DX! Larry

@@HamRadioLiveShow Apparently he forgot to pack the microphone. I've heard a lot of old timers on 20 SSB complaining about the absence of phone operation.

Propagation isn't favoring those of us with small antennas and high noise levels. If you can't hear them you can't work them. 10 meters is my best band and I can't hear him or 3Y0J.

I managed to work Thierry on 30m ft8, 20 ft8 and 20 cw. Certainly a challenge with my dipole but greatful for getting in the log. Hope he can get an extention to operate longer! Many thanks! 73, kb2fcv

Patrick, here is a tip for you. Using a thick rubber band, or bungie, set tripod so it has some resistance in motion, then use the band/bungie to rotate/pan the camera. Loop one end over the tripod handle near the end of the handle, and pull with steady pressure in the direction desired. Your pans will be smooth as silk. Takes a bit of practice. Try it.

Your advice would be good if FT8WW used a tripod. The few videos that have been used here were made very quickly with a smartphone, just to get an idea of where it is. Don't worry, the footage in the final video will look much better and is not filmed with a smartphone. 73

Now that it's all over, it's time to look back and hold the "post mortem"... The Hockey Gods and the Propagation Gods are related to one another. In hockey, your guy can clang a puck off the goalpost pipes harmlessly and the other guy puts it in a few minutes later. With propagation, you can't hear the DX due to any number of reasons, but everyone else is working the big DX. Strangely enough, I was never able to hear FT8WW or 3Y0J. I WAS able to hear 3B7M, though. The final day of FT8WW, I was unable to hear him on my best band, 28.340, despite an unusually low noise level. In fact, I couldn't hear the stations working him. I could hear the Columbian station calling on 340 and the station with the Italian accent saying "Up!". Sometimes, that's just the way it is. So today, with a SFI number of 135, I expected nothing but static on 10, but instead heard A61QQ working Europe on 10 meters. Oh well... you can never know.

Too many hours in a stupid system which is FT8 , 90% ft8 and 10% cw , not the opposite ?
@F2DX-Patrick Жыл бұрын
90% vs. 10% ?? We probably don't have the same (official) statistics that you can easily find on ClubLog ... 20m - CW : 3623 - FT8 : 4856 15m - CW : 1101 - FT8 : 2900 Be a little patient. When he can (soon) resume on HF, he will definitely be doing more CW (and SSB too as many hope). However, I am only the guy who takes care of the video editing. For the rest, you can send your comment to the email indicated on the website.

He's managed to get on the air with very limited equipment. not much power, very limited antennas, is a long way from the Ham population and has had to work with signals that are often too weak even for CW. He's gone out his way to get permission, to get there and to operate for as many hours per day and as many days as he can. STOP BLOODY MOANING. IF YOU CAN GO THERE AND DO A BETTER JOB THEN DO IT, OTHERWISE STFU

@@F2DX-Patrick If you told us that the microphone went into the ocean as Thierry was getting off the boat at least we'd know that old Murphy had a hand in the absence of phone operation. Humor.
