Alvarez here reminds me of the young Pavarotti. Soprano also superb, and the supporting cast. Nowadays it is unusual to see opera in full costume, due to financial contsraints.

As I once joked to my seating companion after the curtain came down at a live performance, "That's all well and good, but how do they keep her from sleepwalking tomorrow night?" I'm not sure he got the joke. It could be fun chatting with the people sitting next to you at the opera house. But it's also fun to make cornbread in your kitchen while streaming a wonderful performance such as this. Denk you, as we say in da Bronx. So? How DID they keep her from sleepwalking the next night?
