The first time I heard this version was an audio distorted version that made you sound like Hank Hill singing. After looking up to see if there really was a country version of this song, all I’ve got to say is DAMN SON!!! This is an amazing cover, it’s so good you don’t even realize it IS a cover!

Not gonna lie, when I first heard this on the radio at work I was a bit annoyed, since the original is one of my favourite Pop songs in the last decade. But after hearing it a couple times I grew to like it a lot (the banjo really hooked me). Now hearing it through quality headphones, I can appreciate the full scale of the guitar work.🤘 Well Played, Good Sir. 🥃

After listening to this like 5 times in a row and then your other videos on here I’ve realised why it fits so well (in addition to the lyrical content being perfect for the genre) you’re an electronica band with a country skin! Your baselines, beats, tempos and & vocalisations could come straight out of a night club. Also I’m well impressed with the 5 string players meshing so well, they give so much depth to the soundscape. Really fantastic, well done

This version makes more sense with the lyrics than the Vegas 80s vibe of the original, since out in the country you both are impressed by city lights and are driving insane distances to reach your girl.
