Politics and the privilege to build that relationship definitely played a part. Vick also said that he can call a few coaches up right now and get a tryout if he wanted it. Its the privilege to have those relationships that gives people the edge over others. The entire world works like that. Skip and Shannon are another example. They are both privileged to be on this show thru knowing the right people in leadership positions.

2012, SF finished 11-4-1. Kaepernick's started the final 7 games. He was 25. They lost in the Super Bowl. In 2013, SF finished 12-4. Kaepernick did well, but not as well as 2012. Most interesting is that in their 12 wins, Kaep had a QBR of 90.8. In their losses, his QBR was 10.8. In 2014, SF finished 8-8. Kaep had more INTs and fewer TDs than 2013. Stats, etc, kept declining over time, teams developed strategies to stymie Kap, he gets reduced in the QB string, still gets an offer to stay with the 49ers in 2017, turns it down gets an offer with the Broncos in 2018, turns it down... In 2019, the NFL bent over backward to offer Kaepernick a workout to prove that he was still ready to play. However, despite the generous offer made only to help Kaepernick get his career back on track, he refused the league’s offer to work out in front of team representatives and, instead, set up his own workout at which few team reps attended. And Kaps's going to get a big contract with all of that?

@Soldier King No I not saying he didn’t deserve a chance to start because he lost to the Patriots it’s because he wasn’t really any good at least for 3 quarters. I remember they were playing the bears and Marion Barber ran out of bounds and stopped the clock. Like I said they were lead by their defense in a terrible division. Tebow should be proud of his accomplishments being the best Qb ever in college with 2 national championships and he got his 15 minutes of fame in that 2011 season and even won a playoff game. I don’t think the Jets gave him a fair shot but he didn’t help with his practices. My whole point is why is this guy getting another chance at a completely different position when he hasn’t played in about a decade

Skip is doing his best to ignore the hella nepotism in this hire. I get he and Urban were great together in college. Tebow has never succeeded astronomically in the NFL and that was 9 years ago. We’re talking about a dude who hasn’t played pro football in 9 years coming back to play TE when he used to be QB. It’s a bad idea that is only happening because Urban wants to give his “oldest son” another shot at the sport that he already failed at. Should a just hired Tebow as a coach, would’ve probably been a bigger help and had absolutely 0 media attention lol coaches hire their kids all the time

I feel like this signing is more about the energy and leadership he brings to a team. Yes a lot of TE’s are available and better than him but there’s a chance that they are not beneficial to the locker room as Tebow.

@@cbcbrown88 Leadership is needed from players too. And in a sport where you have over 50 players on the roster not everyone needs to be extremely productive, certain people are just there to fill a particular role. If they don't serve their purpose they get dropped.

He gets a chance because he knows the coach and they've enjoyed success before. The cost for Jacksonville is minimal because he isn't replacing the most productive player on the squad, rather the least. Also, it's not as if this team is about to make a run for the superbowl anytime soon. They can experiment a little.
