What interests meore is the construction. I suffer from narrow heels but broad forefoot, do heel lift is an issue. Not that I put out Dan's power...or can drop £375 on cycling shoes...
@scotthamilton1054

I agree. I really feel that any bike over the 3kdollar category is a wash in terms of real marginal gains. Just sit back and wait for trickle down tech to work for you. BUT that being said shoes in that high end category add so much performance value. I splurged on SWorks 7 last year. Incredibly light and stiff which add huge performance gains. To me it makes more sense to go with a 105 mechanical group set then invest the savings in a nice pair of shoes, aero helmet and a fitness / cycling coach for two months. You would come out into the spring season way faster than some dude on a 8k dollar rig

Indeed. I think it is an easy excuse. I think it is more down to commodity inflation, the general increase in shipping costs globally and perhaps most importantly because they can with demand outstripping supply.

Why do they need to increase their prices???? Someone please explain this
@MichelleArthursBrennan
@MichelleArthursBrennan 3 жыл бұрын
Many factors! But rules of origin mean that most cycling equipment is hit by extra charges, which either need to be absorbed by the brand or passed on to consumer. Shipping costs also increasing, and currently a lot of brands having issues with locating containers to ship their wares in... We are probably due an update on the situation, shall investigate writing one this week!

Smokes and mirrors the problem is if non EU brands like Trek need to export direct from US as opposed to exporting into EU (Denmark?) then exporting back to UK! Any way buy British then there should be an issue LOL like Kinesis !
@matthewlewis2072
@matthewlewis2072 3 жыл бұрын
Combination of factors, economic and political: 1) origin rules - goods from outside the EU coming to the UK via EU distributor attract tariffs 2) Brexit - results in additional paperwork and admin, Sports Direct CEO was just on R4 saying it's literally tens of millions 3) demand - UK bike demand grew massively last year, especially e-bikes. As supply is inflexible in the short term, one way to choke off demand us to raise prices (there may be an element of profiteering, but cycling retail is highly competitive so less likely).

Aerodynamics is not "common" sense as you state. It is a very complicated science and what "Seems" aero may not be. Take for example a Beetle and a GT40. "Common sense "tells you the GT40 is more aero yet, it's a freakin brick.
