Since it is a thermal printer, I assume, if you leave a print in a hot place (like a car on a hot day) that the whole paper will turn black and you will loose your image. Since you have the device, would you experiment and confirm if this is true?

Yes they can. Depending how much light gets to it, if it's not protected (like constant rubbing).

Try spraying liquid sunscreen all over your print. However the website makes claims it is near archival quality

@@arxsyn thanks. I was assuming it faded quicker than photos with time and temp like most thermal paper does. I didn't know that it's actually archival quality. Now I'm sold!

I have a question though. I have LE2. Printing a photo using a regular paper, how did it turn out? Mine turned out to be fuzzy. It’s not clear and has a lot of noise. Using a photo paper, it’s very clear. I wonder if mine is defective or photos shld only be printed on special photo paper. Pls … I need your input. Thank you.

How many foto's can you make with 1 rol?

Depends on the size of photo. In the 75-100 picture range if you are printing short pictures. Less if you are printing longer ones

Correct, everything is in black and white, what's cool about it though is that it never requires ink. It uses heat to print.

You can print receipts, not sure about credit card processing app, but if you have the hp print app, you can connect with that. Or the pooliprint app itself.

Well, it isnt ink so I'm not sure it would fade at all. It uses heat.

Idk if this may help, but this is what they say on their website: "The retention period may be affected by the exposure of the thermal paper to the sun. For normal use conditions, the retention time varies from a minimum of 10 years and up to 22 years depending the type of paper you use."

I'm thinking the same thing. All thermal (inkless) receipts I've ever had have faded within 6 months - I found an old receipt from a few years ago which has never touched the sunlight and it's still kind of legible. But to me it sounds like you can only ever view these poooli prints in the dark 😅

Had a quick look around for information about thermal paper fading (that isn't coming from poooliprint themselves) and yes - they are susceptible to both UV and humidity. They will always "oxidise" and the web reckons they'd last about 7 years in ideal conditions (dark and dry). You can restore them by applying low heat to the reverse side, or you can apparently laminate them as well
