It’s not one or the other. Each of them has its application in its wave band depending on the application that you are trying to fulfill.

Thanks Stan, we really are happy with our Ventus OGI mwir camera and I always say, "it just wants to see gas!" Ours is on a Ronin gyro stabilized platform mounted to a Robinson R44 helicopter used in aerial gas leak detection.

As a filmmaker, I prefer the look of LWIR. But would want to see the resolution, sensitivity (low noise), the framerates as well as the lens options of a cooled system. So could you run a cooled LWIR system for the 8-12µm spectrum?

hello. there is a laser (Er:YAG) that emits the wavelength of ≈2940nm, can i see it with a MWIR camera?
