Hate to tell you this, but there are some Badass white Guys that are phenomenal Slap Bass players!

It looks like the speaker simulator switch was depressed during the demo, unfortunately the switch works as a defeat, so if you did indeed depress the switch the speaker sim wasn't on during this demo.

It says right in the manual that the "up" position is turned off. "you can defeat the speaker simulation by disengaging the speaker switch (up position). So this comment isn't accurate.

If you're looking to upgrade amps I would ask the staff at the store what would best handle it. Thanks

Hello! First off, many thanks for the great review & all the very useful info, much appreciated! I just bought this unit today and I'm planning to use it to record a wet signal + a dry signal directly into my DAW (Cubase). Then blend those two tracks in the DAW's mixer to try to achive the bass tones I'm after; also depending on the song, etc. But how exactly would I set this up in my home recording studio? Can I connect it directly to my Audio Interface (UR824) using two different inputs on the card? Would I then only use the "instrument inputs" with Hi-Z, or some other way to set it up since I also have "microphone inputs" using phantom power with +48V?

Hi Robin, thanks for getting in touch! I would set it up so that you run your bass into the VT then take the Mic Level XLR output to one channel of the sound card with whatever tonal choices you make (including any blending you can do on the VT itself) as one signal & then I would connect an instrument cable from the parallel out of the VT to one of your hiz instrument inputs on the second channel of the sound card. That way you get two distinct tracks that you can mix between in the Cubase session rather than just relying on the blend of the Vt itself. This would be the least “destructive” method because you can choose what channel or blend of the channels to use at any time. - Lewis

Flatwounds, old strings? That bass sounds super dark.
