For someone who owns an S24 Ultra I would say this phone (A55) is the one to buy if you are smart. Software and security support for 5yrs, sd card, premium build, decent camera, great screen, 8gb ram on 256gb storage, gorgeous display. I bought 20 units for our users in the company because it’s just one of those phones out there that has a premium feel and brand with 3rd of the price.

The exynos processor on this is great. Samsung finally nailed it with this one. It's not a perfect phone because the camera isn't great, but the performance is great on this. I don't think it performs that well in benchmark tests, but it never lags, never heats up, and great battery life.

As someone who is used to flagship samsung phones, the A55 definitely has its flaws, however the performance is pretty astounding. I play codm regularly and it doesnt lag, even whne power saving is on. The battery life is great, I can game for hours and phone will still have adequate charge to last the day. Only issues i have is the delay with the fingerprint and face id scanners. Otherwise amazing phone, looks great, works well. 9/10 😊

It's not necessarile you pay less but get the samey .. But it's natural , you get diminishing returns, I understood it the hard way after being a spec lover , I'm the kind of buy that buys these " Who needs gaming phones " kind of stuff or Overpowered specs. but yeah find the sweet spot for yourself ! my old A10 can play some games too and it's exynos 788B ; even worse than A9 bionic which is nearly in iphone 6. so yeah it all not what's on paper matter in real performance too ! , make sure to choose the right phone for yourself ! Price is a spec too. While I myself not rich , if I was I'd still be drolling over who ever beat iphone 18 bionic for 4ghz.. They have that much speed... I was baffled but I think hexacore. ( still tho I'm surprised for apple since I expected these from Dimensity instead ) I honestly think perfomance is not critically important and people who just want basic stuff , 24fps is fine in most games unless you care lot. 30- 40 is needed for online gaming but at that point you'd be worried about other specs too. I like phones that try something crazy , ofcource that means less people buys it .,

The A52S nearly killed the FE line and the small S22-23 because of how good an overall deal it was for 350-400$/Euros while adding things like longer battery life, SD Card Reader 3.5mm Jack, the one reasons to jump up to the S Line at the time was really Software goodies (Like DEX) and a telephoto camera, but that costed you at least 300 More and for both mildly tech savvy people and average consumers it was difficult to justify that price premium for not really much percivable value, the next generations A53, 54 and 55 were nerfed by simply only updating the externals and letting the externals become obsolescent.

Exactly! The A52s is splendid when compared to all the rest of the phones that came later. They really nerfed the rest of the A5x series because they removed the 3.5mm jack and also bigger bezels. Worst of all are the processors

I'm using the A35 and I actually forgot that I'm using an Exynos 1380 chipset phone. No lags, super stable, good battery life, performs well and very snappy. I even turn off the RAM Plus feature.

Honestly the 2400 is pretty darn good, it's worse than the snapdragon no question about that but it's still a really good chip. I have the S24 the battery lasts me same as any other phone would or as my friends phones do after comparing. The camera is really nice. I haven't had issues with performance and as for heating up and thermals it's been fine maybe it does get a tad warmer than the snapdragon (can't really compare) but i've never had it get to the point it's really uncomfortable. The worst it ever got was when recording 8K for a while on a really hot day with no wind.

@@petermikus2363 the 2400 and 8 gen 3 are very close though the 8 gen 3 is barely even 5% faster than the 2400 in multicore scores (both chipsets are identical in single core) but it does offer 30% uplift in gpu according to 3Dmark but 2400 offers 12% imporvement over 8 gen 3 in compute gpu acore according to geekbench

I had an issue with my A71, whenever I make or receive a call, the person on the other end of the line always say that I keep breaking up, I tried getting it fixed, but they said it was a "carrier" issue, but I used the phone on 2 different carriers and the problem persisted. Other than that issue, it was a great phone, I now have a S23+ I got from AT&T trade in deal.

To add to it the exynos 1480 is a quite capable chip. Good enough for most average users. Close to the performance of a snapdragon 865. Which is enough for most users. This is only going to continue to improve each year. Great to see performance trickle down into the mid range as the years go by. I may use an s plus or s ultra device currently have an s24 ultra. But I definitely picked up the A55 for that sd card support to. Being able to drop in one of my 512gb or 1tb sd card is still a must especially on the go and while traveling. Storing movies, etc while only using the internal storage for apps. Plus I can drop games for emulation on my sd card and not having to worry about my storage being used up internally. Psp and dream cast games as well as 3ds games can add up to a lot of memory. If anyone's gaming for hours then just slap on a cooler with heat sink and cooling pad and sustained performance would be no issue.

Bought this phone for my grandma last month and I am jealous. It's phenomenal, and in a lot of way it's better than the S20 FE I'm still using. Much better build quality, better screen, better battery life. Sure my S20 FE still has a stronger processor and better camera, but you know what it doesn't have? 7 years of software support, which the A55 has. Software support ended on my S20 FE ended back in 2022 smh. If my S20 FE wasn't still going strong, I'd go for the A55 in a heartbeat

Watching on my A55. "Upgraded" from my iPhone XR just last month. Bought it for the monster battery life which is very useful for field work, but the screen and sound are very enjoyable for KZbin, Netflix and LoL Wild Rift. I can say, though, that the software integration and ease of use from my iPhone was smoother and the photos have that je ne sais quoi, but the pros of the A55 outweigh its cons for my use case (and in managing my screentime). And I got my AI fix covered with the ChatGPT app on board. 2 days of no charging while on field work is just a *chef's kiss* Great review btw!

So I'm gonna be honest I am an iPhone owner and honestly for the longest time. I've wanted my mother to buy an iPhone but she loves Samsung. She always had the note lineup after the Samsung Galaxy note series died off we were searching for other Samsung alternatives, and to be honest, my mother doesn't do much with her phone. She does web browsing some Facebook some casual photos here, and there, and I being the technological geek (maybe not) made the wise choice to buy her a mid range Samsung phone. And it all started with the Samsung A71. This phone was great because it was big, but it had some issues causing the phone to have some screen problems after that we were searching for another phone and saw the A54. This phone is great honestly has all the features that we were looking for has great battery life a high refresh rate screen and honestly for what my mother wanted it for it's absolutely perfect and nothing less than just perfect so for anyone who is looking for something that is just for media consumption and regular phone usage without much gaming involve this phone is for you. If I wasn't invested in the Apple ecosystem, this phone would be very attractive to me.

yeah its a great phone honestly for 95% or more people this phone is more than enough a lot of people will say "oh but its going to slow down a lot after a year or 2" i have an a51, a phone from december 2019 and it runs perfectly fine, its chipset gets 3x+ lower scores in benchmarks than the one on the a55 but its still decent i can feel its slower but nothing serious, people who claim this didnt even had a A5X phone themselves or had a defective model and now they think all A5X somethings are like that i feel like people just like to complain just for the sake of complaining and a lot of people are really biased as well "oh well you can buy an iphone 13 instead that phone has a way better camera and chipset!! a55 maybe only has a bit better battery" no it also has 120 hz, usb c, doesnt have a notch, 2 or 3x the ram, has a micro sd card slot, quite a lot longer lasting battery, better thermals, longer software support and so on but thats the thing people because of their bias will only exclusively look at the things that the phone that they like more does better i even saw comments such as "yeah s9 beats the a55 woo!!!" like what??? or "yeah a52s is better than a55" like genuinely stupid comments, they do this because THATS the phone that they have, they have an s8 therefore they will defend that phone same thing with the a52s "oh but it has a snapdragon" which means nothing since the exynos 1480 is better than the 778g and is more efficient and doesnt heat as much so yeah.............

The only reason I bought the S24 is also immediately the whole argument these days: acceptable size. There seem to be hardly any phones left which are not ridiculously large. As such, I would buy an otherwise terrible phone just to get acceptable size... Other than that, interestingly: the things that get advertised as nice, screen size and resolution, brightness, refresh rate, camera (ALL phone camera suck massively), Gorilla nonsense, etc. are all utterly unimportant. While the things the S24 dumps would actually be things I DO want to have: plastic frame (SO much better), expandable storage, phone jack. It's a strange market.

Switched from a Poco f6 to A55 after several years of being a "MUH POWERFUL CHIPSET" kinda guy, because I got a taste of the newest One UI in tab S9 FE I bought for work purposes. It might count as a downgrade in the chipset department as Exynos 1480 is considerably weaker in benchmark etc. But I'm glad I changed, because One Ui is just that good (or hyper Os is just that bad and I'm just realizing it's flaw little by little) even with a much weaker processor, everything feels so smooth, no sudden freeze, lagspikes, annoying little bugs here and there, and Knox is really a blessing to have. It is surprising honestly, while the reason I changed were mainly because of the OS, the performance I get were still enough, and the premium build quality feels impressive. @@yuririi1920 if You're leaning for Hardcore gaming, 120fps competitive games at max graphics, I'd say go for F6 pro. But, if you're fine with playing games with settings that range from mid-high, almost everything else that A55 have is far better. Circle to search, modes & Routines, good lock, knox vault etc are all very nice to have. But alas, If you're going for budget phone, F6 Pro is capable to reach flagship's level performance on gaming

One Ui,Knox vault, Good lock, etc. Exynos from what i've seen online also did a great job at tasking work for the cpu, such as video rendering and beaten phone with higher specs cpu by quite a significant margin. the camera part also seems to be better, Samsung had much better color dynamic range and better night shot rendering. So, unless you're planning to play competitively and need that 120fps, max graphics settings for games (or maybe emulator), A55 is the one to go. TLDR: Want to game more? F6Pro. Everything else? A55

I moved to this from an aging S9+ i've had since 2018! I looked at S23's etc but just couldn't justify the cost, not for my type of usage. And I got it at something of a bargain price too. I almost went for a refurbed S23 but the expandable memory is something I use a lot so that pretty much sealed the deal for me. It's a great phone though I miss the curved edges of the S9+ screen! My old S9 still works fine but the screen has a crack and the battery has begun to fail. I wonder if my A55 will last as long?!

depends which flagship S series phone the a55 has an objectively better camera than the one on s10+ as an example and a more powerful chipset, sure it is a 2019 phone but thats the thing, eventually A series phones will overtake the older flagships, even compared to the s20 i would still pick an a55 over an s20 or even an s21 for me it only begins with the s22 series where id pick an s22 over the a55 but again even that phone has its own issues which the a55 doesnt have, battery and thermals being the most notable ones due to it having the infamous snapdragon 8 gen 1/exynos 2200 which are both pretty bad when it comes to the battery life and thermals

For about 3 years, I have a s20fe. I was thinking to switch to s23fe, but when I saw that you cant anymore expand the memory with a sd-card, thats when the s23fe is a nogo for me. I need the extra space, but I will not pay around 80$/€ more for 128gb extra space, when I can get 256gb for around 20$/€. The song for the speaker test is spot on for the kind of music the people who play music on their phones in public transport use, that was funny. These days it is getting harder to justify the cost of the flagship phones now the mid-range has caught up in so many of the important aspects that you actually notice. Coming from someone who has always used Note or S-Ultra series devices, my current S21 Ultra is still all I need, but the mobile network antenna has died for no reason (and you can see its a fairly common issue listed on ebay 'for parts' phones), which is why I am looking at cheaper phones now, why buy a premium product if it will become a brick because of a design fault only a few years later.

@collinsnicky1202 After 2 weeks of using a55, it is way better than I expected. It's very smooth and not laggy while playing mobile games or using social media apps. But the battery seems a little bit off when using this for the very 1st week. The battery can easily be drained. From 100 to 80 for scrolling through socials. But I've seen some reviews that the phone itself is adjusting the way on how you use it. You can manage the battery in settings depending on what you prefer and adjustments. With or without case, I can feel the premium feels even though it is only a mid range device. My personal favorite in this device is that you can adjust the phone itself depending on how you use it for everyday living. You can personalize it, and the phone itself will adopt your routines. This is my personal review. But I hope this will help.

I must say i am impressed how far these A series phones have come. I had an A31 back in 2020, mainly bought it as a secondary phone and while it is pretty good when i tried to use it as my main phone for a few days i just couldn't. This is coming from an exynos galaxy S10 owner as my daily (well back then anyway) so while it was a good phone for your average moderate user it was just too slow for me. Almost everything else was great about it though except the main Camara. I noticed that the main lens had difficulty focusing on close-up objects. Something not present on the S10. Moving on 4 years later my daily is now a galaxy S20 5G. I recently found the A15 5G open box for 119$ and decided to get it as i needed a secondary phone anyway as i had given my A31 to my mother and my S10 had it's own issues. When i got the phone it was basically brand new. Not even the plastic on the frame has been removed. Literally 100% flawless and you could never tell that it was used it it wasn't for the open box. I must say i am quite happy with it. It's not perfect and it is missing some important features to me that Samsung intentionally seems to leave out on their budget phone Samsung sound assistant app When i tried to install the "Samsung sound assistant" application but the Galaxy store said that my phone was incompatible with it. I downloaded an APK and installed it that way and it worked flawlessly. Again a software limitation just because it's a budget line phone but why? The app is clearly fully compatible. It works just as well on this device as it does on my S20 and tab S9+ i really don't understand the need to say that it isn't compatible and prevent users from installing it. Otherwise the phone is a good deal for the price. Especially for what i got it for. Mine is the higher end model with 6 gigs of RAM and the experience is definitely much better than the A31 i had in 2020. Like if i had to I could 100% use this device (with a few limitations) but otherwise it is great. I was mainly impressed by now good and clear the screen on it is. Samsung's definitely heading in the right direction with these A series phones and I'm kinda impressed.

@@animatronicgoofy N coming up with feature rich ios updates will be a problem. iPhones come with the tiniest spec upgrades. It is just a bunch of percentages thrown around as their marketing usp. They will not only lose their individuality but it will be harder to send the newest update to older iPhones. Also since I decided to give iPhone a shot their battery life becomes a problem later on with bug fix updates and ios updates. For android it is the opposite they come with a much higher battery capacity so the drop in battery life isn’t noticeable.

Nice review and reflection on the A*5 series phone. On this rwviw at first glance it sounda okay. The las 6 years I've been more invested in the A7* series phones. I'm still using an A70 and 2 A71 series phones and they are great. I think for me the A7* has always been the sweet spot of the better value over the A5* series. I think what I have have found lack luster after the A51 and A71 series is that a lot stayed the same beyond chip, camera's and RAM. What I have truly missed to benefit the end user is 1. The support of wireless charging, especially on the A7* series. It is not an expensive component to install and wouldn't impact the price too much. It is because of this I didn't think the price justified the value in later itterations. They tried to compensate it with improving water resitance and deprecating ports, but at that point for me the phones made less sense. Beacuse it didn't adress two.issue with regard to repairability which I find more valuable in mid to lower ra.ge phones. Especially any news on easy reoairability of broken screens end deprecated batteries that could easily be repaired with costing and arm and a leg, no repair damage of the phone after repair, and at least 5 years of software and security updates were higher on my value list. Anything Samsung built after the A5* and A7* series was the same formula, so okay. They decided to follow popular trends of water resistance and dust resistance, which the phones were to a degree acceptibly. But going to IP67 meant everything was glue tight, virtaully impossible to repair without some serious slill and equipemnt or an expensive repair. And in my view with ciuntless alter active options for phone accessory portofoons, all else being equal, I missed a repairable version so that it would go the distance. And together with software updates trickled down from the high end phones would give the phone and camera's a second life. That imstead of the cookie cutter disposable follow up phones. That is what made everything after the A71, beyomd a few camera and minor chip upgrades lackluster and not loose my money on less itterative value over time for small changes with little benefit when tou really look at the minor itterative updates over time. And the fact the A70 and A71 are still great phones today to me speaks volumes about what Samsung could have done differently to keep the market share amd user based invested limger over time. Instead they chose to flood the market with a gazillion phones every year, which soumded a bit wasteful. Even many iphone users stick longer to their phones because of the longterm software support. I think this aspect is undervalued at Samsung. They want profit from volume sales. But Samsung software is getting great actually.

The Exynos package is inferior, but as this video implies, the latest and greatest from Snapdragon needs to be revised for most people. My main issue is that the modem is vastly inferior to Qualcomm, leading to more heat and battery draw. The Gen-3 of the 4nm Exynos modem seems to have closed the gap, but I am unsure if that applies to the modem in this chip.

I got an S24 a few months ago and thought it was a great decision.. good specs, 7 years of updates. I got my mom an A35 and set it all up, tested things out and I kind of wish I saved the money and got an A35 because before the end of software support I'll either want to get a newer phone or have to repair something. For me its still worth for upgrade. .new built material (feels premium). .the new exynos in a55 way more better than the predecessor (with rdna gpu), no heat issue anymore, good performance for gaming, good camera n the most importance for me is the knox vault for security. . I own s23 n a55. .the drawback from a55 for me is the size, its big for my hand 😂 and no telephoto cam. .

With AI coming to the A series, the S series will basically give you a higher setting for gaming and camera experience. Aside from that, you better off saving the money getting an a55. The small difference in time opening apps really makes little difference.

Personaly I am currently using the highly underrated Galaxy S21 FE. It's a true flagship phone with flagship specs. In the 256GB version you get a Snapdragon 888 processor which is plenty powerful enough for even the most demanding of games, like Genshin Impact. The camera setup is also impressive. The battery easily lasts a day for normal everyday use and Samsung have promised major updates up to Android 16 which should take you through until late 2027. You can pick one up on the refurbished market for around $250. Comes highly recommended 👍😊

on an a55 here! personally i believe this phone is really a value purchase. if you're picky about the processor and the ai, you may want to go for the s24, but in regards to everything else like overall performance, display, build and design, camera, etc, it's basically the s24 but for less. as for the processor, even if tou were picky, you couldn't really tell the difference. im able to run high-performing games normally (if you're not botherednwith playing on medium to low graphics) and multitasking is always a breeze. i love my a55!!

I am in Europe and I have gotten this phone via a carrier deal start this summer. Originally I was gonna wait out for next year to get a new phone and was heavily tempted by the - at the time not yet realised, but completely leaked - Pixel 9 Pro/Pixel 9 Pro Fold, but then the mic died on my old A7 I tried to fix it with gadgets to squish out an additional year or so, but no luck so I had to get a new phone quickly and given that outside of a Sony flagship with an outrangelously short update plan for the price, it is one of if not the best phone that still has SD support it was always my top consideration for a new phone, ever since it launched, I even like the name two (three) fives in it (though if I had waited to next year this would have likely shifted to the A56 provided it still has SD). And while I would have wanted bidirectional wireless charging this time around the possibility to have 1 TB of exchangeable storage for photos and videos and a decent software support plan was worth it and while I am not very hyped about this phone it was a good buy and will serve me for years (until its EOL and maybe even one or two years after that). Oh and it has Gemini and circle to search now, I can install ChatGPT if I want to so AI wise I am all set.

My first-ever Android smartphone was the awesome Galaxy A9 Pro, then the underwhelming, OIS-less A70s that I soon exchanged for an A72 which I'm still rocking, until my new phone gets delivered. Only after it received its fourth and final OS upgrade, I started contemplating getting an A55. Flagships never interested me. However, when I saw the S24+ on sale at a ~40% discount, I gave in. This is a great video Wade. Awesome video. But this is one comparison I was thinking of. The S23 FE is an interesting comparison. Probably the same price in most cases in the US.

Interesting! The S23 FE is still a bit expensive in the U.S. directly from Samsung, but the A55 is sold for like $320 on Amazon so I think people would opt for it if they knew

Most countries???? Literally everywhere sells s23 fe significantly more . A55 is cheaper in most places

I have been using my A55 5G for 3 months now and i am loving it! I gave my S23 ultra to my sibling because he needs a more advance phone for his work. To me, the difference is very minor depending of course how I use the phone. For browsing and some minor games, the A55 can deliver!

@@henriknielsen1176 Still inferior to snapdragon! And the major culprit here is not the Exynos architecture, but Samsung manufacturing. Snapdragon chips like 888 & 8gen1 were worse in efficiency and thermal throttling when built in samsung foundries rather than tsmc.

Using a previous model with an Exynos chip (A54), the Exynos isn't a gaming powerhouse but was sufficient for my needs. Did not have problems with Mobile Legends, Fate Grand Order, Blue Archive. Was able to run Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail however given both these games are space hogs and better suited to a keyboard/mouse especially for Genshin, I just removed them. Rhythm Games work well as I tested this with Idolmaster Cinderella Girls Starlight Stage as well as the newer Idolmaster Shiny Colors - Song For You. If you really plan to game its best to just get a dedicated device for gaming (gaming phone,tablet, or even a Steamdeck) alongside this phone.
