This is very thought-provoking for me. I have the Hollyland Lark Max, but having this in my kit solves a lot of other issues for doing field recording. Just gives me more options depending on the situation. The combo kit is at a very decent price and worth every cent in my book. I love the sound from my Hollyland Lark Max and the M2 sounds the same. How can you go wrong? BTW M2 demonstrated an impressive performance in your range test. Life can be good without wires and these mics. Hooray to Hollyland for providing these tools.

Love the form factor, but note that only the camera receiver is stereo (and only when using the 3.5mm jack). All USB-C and lightning options are Mono-only, panning the microphones to the centre. Because you cant record on device, this means you CANNOT seperate the two microphone channels.

That's good to know, and honestly sucks. There don't seem to be good options for the average phone which does not have a headphone jack these days. I have 2 Android devices and the USB c to 3.5mm for Rhodes doesn't freaking work anymore. I don't know if my mic is defective for that purpose. The weird part was it was working initially and then just stopped. Read online people had similar issues and suspected it was actually an android update that is yet not acknowledged...I just want to be able to easily get some half-ass better audio from my phone to record videos on, emphasis on easy (otherwise if I quality was the biggest factor I would whip out my actual video camera). Suggestions, anyone?

Great review! This looks way better than the Rode2. The little receiver that just plugs into the phone, rather than Rode needing a damn cable to the receiver, which is then difficult to fix to a gimbal. The range is impressive. I recently purchased the Mark 2 and compared to any cheap wireless mic if definitely sounds more rich/crisp. However I do have a thin/soft voice and want to add more bass/studio quality sound. Can you kindly answer these 2 query based on the same: 1. Holland Lark M2 : What EQ/high pass filter/bass or other modifications I can do in audacity to make it sound with more bass. Everytine I do post production of sound in audacity or FCP trial version- the sound gets messed up! Either it becomes muddy or too sharp with glitches etc! 2. Max: Or should I replace the Lark M2 with the Lark Max as I have seen that it def does have a more bass/more podcast type sound (mainly with vocal booster) without any post production or EQ tweaking. Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated Sir and this will help me fix a long lasting issue. Thank you.

You know, if you stuck that mic on the left side of the bill of a cap, it probably never would have cut out during your range test! That's pretty amazing. (I already ordered my Lark M2 Duo, it should be here in three days.) The main thing I see they could improve on is the dead cat size; it's a bit much for an almost hideable mic. On-board storage would be nice too, but size would most likely have to go up... I always like your videos! No BS, quick and to the point, and lots of info. PS Since you asked; I have recently started using my Rode Wireless Gi ll on my Insta360 X4 for recording rides on my ebike, and plan to do more recording on the Harley with it as well. On the ebike, I get NO wind noise (with dead cat) at 26 MPH, but hear a fair amount of road noise and electric motor noise. I'm going to try these through the mic adapter on the X4 with the dead cat and noise suppression on High to see if I can reduce some of that external noise. I don't think it'll cut the Harley out, but I don't really want to if I can hear my voice well enough. My opinion on video vs audio: video is most important, but great video is shit without good audio. So...

I'm in love with this mic... It's so minimal and lightweight. I was tired of the bulky rode wireless go, this is such a difference and audio quality is still great compared to the rode. Anyway, the only issue is that I always find myself accidently turning the volume knob in the receiver. I wish there was a way to disable that dial as I always use it in the lowest setting. I'm even thinking about 3D printing some sort of case to avoid turning it by mistake. I'm very impressed by the concept of these tiny mics. I use the lark M1 and they are great, except for the way you attach the mic. it's front heavy and pulls forward on the neck of the t-shirt, if I turn it around the sound gets muffled. so I'm left with having to pinch the tshit and then clip on and just hope that the mic doesn't fall off when I'm active (I do metal detecting videos so I'm very active). these tiny mics with magnetic holding looks just the job, BUT my only concern is the receiver taking power from the phone and draining the battery quicker. Can u listen while you record on your phone/camera to adjust audio input
@TechGearTalk5 ай бұрын
Unfortunately there is no built-in way to monitor audio. You could do it on a camera if it has a headphone jack.

Can i connect the camera receiver output to any external speaker with 3.5 mm input and hear the voices from both the trasmitters in real time ?
@TechGearTalk8 ай бұрын
I’m not sure. I never thought about that. I’ll give it a shot when I get a chance. I don’t have those type of speakers rn

I just received mine today and was tinkering on how to monitor the live feed from the transmitter.

These mics will start chirping in super high wind with the wind screen on. But overall, you can't go wrong with the Lark M2s.

Such a great video ! Do you know if you can connect the USB-C phone receiver to the Dji osmo action 3 for a really compact setup ?
@TechGearTalk8 ай бұрын
Thank you for the kind words!!! Since it works with the dji Osmo pocket 3 - my guess is that it would work with the action 3 - although I do not have one to test. I wish I could give you a definitive answer 🙏🏻
@lesleytechreviews4 ай бұрын
Yes it works! But i've seen you need an usb-c extention because the slot on the action 3 is very thight.

could you use multiple receivers at once if you are for example filming with multi cameras like a GOPRO and S23ultra at the same time?
@TechGearTalk8 ай бұрын
I don’t think so. But you could use the scratch audio from the camera without a dedicated mic and sync in post

That sounds absolutely fantastic 😊

I have a A7SIII but your outside shot are incredibly sharp, what lens is that?
@TechGearTalk16 күн бұрын
The talking head shots and a lot of the broll was using the sigma 24-70 f/2.8. I hope that helps. I appreciate you for being part of the channel!
@bobmusikk13 күн бұрын
@@TechGearTalk The separation is phenomenal.
@TechGearTalk3 сағат бұрын
Thank you for the kind words. That will be a combination of f/2.8 and the specific relationship of distance between the camera, myself and the background. You can DM me on IG if you have questions.

When i use the mobile device, can i charge the phone via the usb c unit? Because i often do irl streams, and need power to the mobile often.
@TechGearTalk2 ай бұрын
Yes - there is a usb-c port on the receiver so you can provide power from a power bank if you’re on the go

@@TechGearTalk super! Because my phone need power, because i often do long irl streams. So re-charge everything is a big big need.
