I have three KZbin channels and I am camera-dumb, have only used cheap point-and-shoots and handheld video cameras like the Sony Handycam. When the last one started crashing, I researched and chose the Canon M50 and have been fumbling my way through, watching video tutorials and pulling what is left of my hair out, LOL. You present the information in such an easy to understand manner, thank you! I shoot a lot on my mini -farm, but my biggest challenge is that I shoot next to my house (with hunter green siding so I hang a quilt behind me at times) under an 8' wraparound porch roof on the east side of the house. I've only done a couple of videos so far, still trying to get the basics down to get the look right. Once I accidentally had 4K turned on, yikes, what a disaster! Generally, I try to wait until afternoon because morning light is so harsh, but I've had trouble with pictures being either too dark or too yellow-looking. Not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I keep watching and tweaking settings. I'll be referring back quite a bit to your videos, I'm sure. Appreciate it! ~Cynthia

What shutter speed would you recommend for shooting indoors having the room ceiling lights, without using any studio lights? Where if we follow the rule of thumb to keep double the shutter speed in accordance with the lens length , generally we get the light flickering. So should I break the rule of thumb?
@TechGearTalk4 жыл бұрын
Hi, the reason for the flickering is that you're probably using the wrong Video MODE. If you shoot NTSC (24, 30 or 60fps) in a PAL area of the world, you will get flickering. And vice versa. If that is the case, switch to PAL and shoot at 25 or 50fps. Let me know if that helps. (you should always follow the 180 rule unless it's for creative purposes - rare)

Thank you! Really useful. I have the Canon M50 and had some technical issues which I resolved with Canon UK’s help via Facebook messenger. 1 connection to a PC via usb cable didn’t work so had to use WiFi method. 2. If you download the Cinestyle .pf2 file & it won’t load onto the camera (ok button is greyed out in the utility software) then rename the file & shorten in to just “Cinestyle.pf2”. That worked for me 😀. Although the settings didn’t exactly match the settings highlighted on technicolour website so I had to manually adjust Saturation to -2.

Thank you for this 2 part set. I just bought the m50 to get back into cinemaphotography until I can afford a bmpcc 4k or 6k. This was really helpful in acquainting me with my new camera.

Great explanations. A review of really important principles. Getting sold on the M50 vs the 5D mk2 although a brilliant camera needs a lot more work ie no touchscreen which I love on my M6 . The M50 clearly superior to the M6 ? I’m wondering what I can achieve with the M6

This shows me how much I have to learn! Thanks. In the future you might want to do more of a class room type video. You teach F stop then give a suggestion of how to go take that video using that function. Then iso, then go take a video. I understand what your saying, but it a little over whelming of how to remember where everything is on the camera and how to use it. At the same time very helpful video.

Glad it was helpful. Yes, I’ll need another video for that. This is VERY old but has some more detail kzbin.info/www/bejne/hqaoZ6p3eduhd7s

Thank you so much. You really have a way of teaching and explaining that makes learning my camera easier. I'm trying to learn to vlog using the proper settings. I really have been afraid of my camera! Even though it is beginner - there's so much to learn. I'm trying to get away from my iPhone and learn to use it instead. So thank you b/c I really don't have much knowledge of photography.

Another super helpful video! So I have the Canon M50 and have been recording our travels. I have the 22mm Canon macro lens. I take a lot of videos of landscapes on our travel blogs and I’m just not happy with the quality. Things aren’t in focus. I’ve tried shooting in F2 and also in F8, and neither looks great. Are my settings wrong or is this a limitation of my lens or camera?

Excellent video - Thanks. Would you recommend anything different in either part 1 or part 2 for live streaming outside?
@TechGearTalk4 жыл бұрын
Glad it was helpful. I would do everything the same if you want 24fps. Otherwise, I stream at 30fps (then 1/60 shutter speed). Here is an example: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rZzUqKSEarFsjcU
