I like the idea, but it's probably easier to ad a buck or boost converter to cut or increase the voltage.

There is one Bangladeshi guy did this about 1 year before. I made it 6 months back. But the problem is that with the increase of voltage at the output, current reduces drastically. You will get good output power only for a small voltage range. Or you can take a power supply of old laptop charger, that gives you great stability. New laptop chargers are complicated, it's not simple in there.

You have not mentioned rating of output capacitors. Out of originals, one is of 1000 mf and the other of 470 mf. You are replacing one as 470 mf and other as 220 mf. You are silent on values of them. You will agree that the value matters significantly. Similarly you are silent on the max. rating amperage capacity we can get from 3.0 v to 24 v subsequent to modification. If possible please clarify on these points.

well the capacitor is charged, so it would be on the drain, so wouldnt the amperage be variable to the voltage? Higher voltage lower amperage
@WilliamAshleyOnline
@WilliamAshleyOnline 2 жыл бұрын
@Thekillerdog nah dc is direct current where as ac is alternating current meaning it is switching... dc voltage is square forming while ac is more sinusodal. remember that if the resistance is the same then amperage will be relative to the voltage.. however when it is on a load device then the watt formula is applicable for power generation. more or less a load acts like a resistor, however the load will also draw the drain of the system, draining may generate heat depending on the efficiency of a non superconducting circuit.. resistance loss and heat tolerance is relative to the bandwidth of low resistance transfer however the load will only drain as much current normally as it can draw. Hope this makes sense.. just understand that capacitors have a charge and drain rate.. the whole farads and voltage factor they are acting as a battery of sorts, capacitors themselves can only draw so much power in time and they can only discharge so much power in time. A 1-farad capacitor can store one coulomb (coo-lomb) of charge at 1 volt. A coulomb is 6.25e18 (6.25 * 10^18, or 6.25 billion billion) electrons. One amp represents a rate of electron flow of 1 coulomb of electrons per second, so a 1-farad capacitor can hold 1 amp-second of electrons at 1 volt.

@waltercomunello121

no. a bunch of changes to the circuit should be done, such as adding the variable voltage divider to give the reference voltage to the TL431. it's not advised to make any changes to circuits such as these, because it would void the warranty and there would be no guarantee that it could work outside its factory ranges. the mod is pretty straightforward - replace the two 16V caps with 25V ones (I'd suggest at least 35V just to be safe), remove the two reference resistors and replace one of them (the closer to ground) with a fixed 2.2kOhms and the other one with a potentiometer.

@@waltercomunello121 forget about the guarantee, I never buy a power supply i take what i found! now it's a good idea to choose a power supply close your need if you want 12.6V a 12V will make the job without modifications (just check the value of the caps if you want your power supply to last longer take a 50%over, the cheap products use 25% 15V for 12V , 50% will be 18V IF THE SIZE OF THE BOX AUTHORIZE IT )but you can use tantalium of recuperation . if you go too far from the original design you may taste some instability (the datasheet explain it very well ) Products who are very cheap produce in mass productions are most of the time well designed

we shouldn't talk about amps, but rather power. the device is rated for 12V@2.0mA (as it is written? I suppose it's 2A) so that would make it a 24W adapter. cranking the voltage up to 24V would make it output at most 1A, and any bigger current demand could damage it. so it would trying to squeeze 8A on a 3V device (24/3=8) because the very components or the traces could overheat or fail.

@@waltercomunello121 so is it 2ma or 2 a I'm confused and why would you guess after the uploader answered the question
@waltercomunello121
@waltercomunello121 2 жыл бұрын
@@talon04091 it's unclear since the label on the adapter says "2mA", but it would be too low for any significant application. So 2A would be a better guess. I think the manufacturer has foggy ideas about current. The only way to be sure would be an ammeter in series with a 12V device which takes 2A.
