Stern survived by producing exclusively IP license-themed games, reducing production and outsourcing factory staff. At one point, Gary Stern was the only full-time employee. It had little to do with competition and everything to do with the market segment.

I love pinball, but I don't know "how" to play the games. Pros know how to light everything up, what ramps to hit when to score massive points, and make events happen; but most games are super unfriendly to casual players, and can be just plain hard to keep a ball afloat.

Learn to control the ball, with dead flips, cradling and nudging. It's all practice. The bit about knowing what to shoot is definitely true though as the rulesets get deeper and deeper. This is good for longevity of a game but does effect the approachability. If in doubt, ramp it out. And if it's lit, hit are a general rule of thumb. I do sometimes get surprised that where did that multiball come from etc doing that but 😂

@LEGOpachinko4 жыл бұрын
@@Mikere5 Even if that is true, the headline is not factually incorrect like you stated. It is ONE of the last (not the last !) factories in the US. Besides that, your comments suggest that in the past there were never more than 6 manufacturers producing in the world (I assume you mean at the same time ..?..). I highly doubt this since there were quite a few brands in the past (not only in the US but also for example Spain and Italy). If you go to IPDB.org and search on a random year in the past you almost always find more than 6 different manufacturers.

"new technologies that phased out competitors" What the hell???? Stern rose from Data East/Sega's ashes in '99. Gottlieb closed its doors in '96 Bally/Williams was looking to get out of pinball and into slot machines and called it quits on pinball in '99. There was nothing revolutionary about Stern when it came into being (hell they were reusing the Sega Whitestar platform in their machines). I'm glad they carried the torch so to speak and have put plenty of money into their machines but this is patently false.
