I hear a lot of people talking about the board locking up at high speeds...I've owned two evolves and never had this problem, BUT, I can see how it might happen. The brake uses a spring, and hard impacts to the remote can cause stuff to shift around. I've dropped my remote several times and had to open it up and re set the spring. You can calibrate the brake from the menu as well, but basically, you want to ensure that there is some dead space in the brake, you don't want it to immediately apply with a slight motion. I investigated the claims of evolve boards chucking people off and what I found is that those boards were either modded, or there was possibility of user error. DO NOT RIDE WITH YOUR THUMB HOVERING OVER THE BRAKE! I suspect this is what caused most issues. I've done it to myself a few times while learning. Keep that thumb well clear and ensure your brake has some dead space and doesn't engage until the lever is well pushed down, and you should be fine. I've been riding for almost 2 years now, it's my main transport, and these things are great.
@LulzRoyce2 жыл бұрын
Yup. It’s an absolute dumpster fire of a design. Allowing the user to potentially accidentally hit both accell and brake is just a recipe for disaster. The quality for the price of the remote is just crap. Every other remote on the market uses a wheel which means it’s physically impossible to accelerate and brake at the same time. The extra cognitive load on the rider having to always make sure they don’t bump their brake by accident is just not a good experience. Also, dropping it should not mess with the values. If it does, the remote is trash. And they should make the remote better versus telling people to be careful with it. If I’m paying 2,500 they should at the very least include a rubber cover for the remote. How expensive could that possibly be?!?

Just got one of these bad boys. Had an unfortunate experience with a motor that stopped working on day 2 but the Evolve support team responded first thing Mon morning and by Wed I had the new motor delivered to my door step. Being a heavier rider (105kg) I had to tighten the belts slightly as they were slipping when braking down hill. Even at my size it eats hills easily but need to be in GTR mode. Top speed I see on AT tyres is about 32km/h but I have not really tested on a decent long straight. Happy with the purchase so far.

I got an auto text from evolve after I added a board to my cart but was hesitant to purchase just yet. I jokingly replied to the automatic text and someone actually responded and we had a short discussion before I finally purchased. That customer service alone pretty much set my purchase in stone honestly, I wonder if the customer service issues are geezers being nasty or self intitled and not getting their way because I've never had such a good experience. Not to mention the friendly email from the founder once you purchase a board which you can reply directly to and provides an easy straightforward connection to support.

I bought the Carbon GTR and for my Girlfriend the Bamboo GTR. My Best Friend bought also the Carbon one. His Board did not work straight out the Box...He send it back, they told him the engine controllunit was broken. A few days later he got a brand new one from evoIve. I was riding my Board about 200km, charged it maybe 6 Times. At my last ride the board makes some strange noises, the remote disconected while im riding and starts accelerating by itself and i crashed very hard. Hurt my elbow, my Head (had a helmet) and both legs because i had to jump off the board at mayby 30km/h. The board hits a Wall and starts Smoking at the engine controll unit...so thats my expirience with evolve...cant recomand it...Support dont belive my story and stoped emailing me back....poor. For anybody interested- Instead, buy a second hand gen3 carbon GT, rip the standard battery pack out of it because they're pants and get a 10s5p (50x samsung 30q cells) battery pack built... use original bms and speed controller unit. Run it on 32t wheel pulleys with abec 107 wheels and I guarantee you'll beat the piss out of the new GTR boards on range/torque/performance. You can get a decent 2nd hand carbon gt for around £600 and the battery is going to cost you around £350 built.

Evolve has been NO help with the issue so far, asking for money on something I paid $500 to extend the warranty from one year to three (yeah and trouble at 28 days requires more money???) So this skateboard was almost a $100 a day habit. Great fun BUT NOT NEARLY THAT MUCH FUN>>>>

@@TechManPat You wot m8? As an old sk8erboy, I am most appalled by that suggestion. You are talking to a guy who once fell forward after a stuck truck from doing a croocked grind had decided to ruin his day, stretched out his arm to catch himself like a total idiot and watched like both his forearm bones snapped straight off like in a bad movie. I remember there was a very famous shock video, idk, but if you know it, you know what I mean, it was just like that. Plus my friends found it to be super funny that my arm looked so weird, so they decided to laugh at me. This was before everybody had a cellphone, so to be fair, what else could they have done? A passer by eventually had a celly and called an ambulance after what seemed like forever and a day to me. That sound.... Like a way too juicy, almost dripping wet sounding, god almighty crack that took way longer than it had any biz taking, (at least that`s how it felt) and like the metal in my leg, never really left me alone again. Ugh! Just rest assured, when I decided to get back skating again, -but this time with engines, I was perfectly aware and fine with the fact that $hit happens. Actually, I can`t wait to be able to stand on a board again. So no, tbh, I plan to use my downtime, and the winter season that will have begun before I am back in action, and build myself a 4x4 monster of a diy longboard with enough battery life to get from here where my parents life, (in the middle of nowhere) to where there are stores and stuff, (and back again of course) and maybe even enough to take me down to the train tracks when I need to get back to the big city lights eventually... #Trampaboards ...but sure, I guess that is also a way to deal with stuff. Sooo to each their own and all that of course. 🤘

Hi!! i liked this video, But i do have a statement. Evolve found an early niche. Meaning, ALL of the parts come from china and evolve in aus puts them together. Great Job!! I hear that evolve support is one of the best!! But in the end its a chinese board... So after everything is said and done, Evolve is making a profit of about 78% per board. Minus their support/production/shipping fees..... Its still about 43% profit per board.

decent boards, GTR bamboo was my first board, after about 8 months I decided to build my own. i wouldn't really recommend an Evolve if you have never skated before & buying your first board just because of the price id recommend a cheaper board like an Exway, Meepo or Backfire just because if you find you don't like it or lose interest it's a bit easier on the wallet since there isn't much of a market for 2nd hand e-boards.

@esk8wallie93 жыл бұрын
but not everyone sticks with riding, why spend 2k$+ on something your not sure if you would even want to continue, buying a cheaper board is a great way to start and you can always upgrade later on, it's not like your being forced to only ride 1 type of board for the rest of your life so your first choice better something expensive if I knew now what I did when I bought my Evolve I would have just bought an Exway and then built my own, rather than now having an Evolve that I cant seem to sell so it just collects dust as id rather ride my DIY.

Really overpriced and mediocre board. Evolve chose to go with 18650 35e battery that is under-performing for this type of board (instead of Samsung 30q which is industry standard). Because of that, you will get to advertised speed only for about first 5 minutes of the ride. After that, the speed will drop to 18mph (28km) which is slow for the board in this price-range. Also, the fastest "CUSTOM" mode requires app that is no-longer available for android users. If i compare GTR with older GT, the GT has more torque and stronger brakes. with GT you will get faster to the top speed and brake faster to avoid the danger.
