General question - not directly related. Does your radio squelch out (very shortly like a puffing sound) every second - while receiving, presumably to monitor the other 'VFO' ? Is this possibility fixed in an earlier update. Can't find a parameter to stop Dual Watch while receiving (squelch open). Thanks in advance for any advise and sorry for the off-topic question :-)

Any chance of getting the V2 firmware for newer (February 2024 and later) radios which have different base board (supplied with V2.02(1.3E) firmware) which includes also the "V1" labeled radios in shops without GPS module?

I like this little transceiver, but a firmware update is needed to improve airband reception and solve the problem with blocking when the PTT is pressed while scanning. Thank you.

Great little radio! But there’s a major problem with airband reception. The AGC appears to be not working. So weak signals are good but strong signals are severely distorted. Is there a way to feedback this information to the manufacturer/firmware developer? And while they’re at it they should include an 8.33khz channel step to comply with current airband specifications!

One question, my recently purchased radio of this model came with Version 2.02 (1.3E), it seems to be more current than this one, and it has the most varied bugs. Can I post this update? I had bought a similar radio and had to return it. Apparently my FT-70D with whip antenna has better receive than the Motorola MT 8900/Abbree Ar 2520with a mobile antenna

Matt, I have the radio but I find the Operation Instructions beyond me. Have you considered a video of how to enter a repeater and some of the basic navigation around the radio? It might help a lot of us.

Hi ya, to be honest, use the software. Grab a cheap cable from online and then use the software to program repeaters and radio features. It's so much easier and less time consuming. Of course there may be times that you want to program in the field, I guess its just the case of practice makes perfect. I'll have to think about making a menu/setup video. Cheers

To program from mic: 1) choose main band and set to VFO mode. 2) enter freq from repeater 3) in menu set CTCSS tone for rx and tx if needed 4) to enter tx freq press */FM button for more then one second (vfo freq will change to red) 5) enter tx freq and press */FM again 6) now you have set all, test repeater 7) go to menu 34 and save channel, press menu again 8) got to menu 33 and put in name (use # to use keypad alphabet, to enter number exit (alter with) #) 9) press menu to exit name programming, press exit to exit menu It is in the manual but poorly explained. 73 Phil

Unfortunately I never got a "Change log" with the firmware file. I didn't even get a website where I can download it from, it was shared with me from the dealer.

I have a big problem with the Abbree 2520 when scanning the memory's if you press the PTT the radio goes into transmit mode and the radio is locked up, you have to switch the power supply off, so be careful if you have this problem it's easy to catch the PTT and not realise, Thank Gary.

Anyone ever try modding the programming cable from a Baofeng handheld (usual 2 pin job) to the RJ45 these use? Paid about $80 for the radio, but they want $35 for the cable around here! It looks like it just uses 2 pins of the RJ45 that I could see in the pictures. So presumably just data +/-?

I got the update from the radio supplier, Banggood, but they didnt tell me where they got it from. Really the firmware SHOULD be on the manufactures website, but....

Ummmm.. There is no separate firmware file. The application/firmware loader contains the firmware. 1) Connect cable 2) Select comport in tool 3) apply power to radio but do NOT turn on 4) press update.. That's it.. :-)

That's good to fix the fan problem, I don't have this radio, but it's simply an electronic temperature sensor control problem why bother to use software ?

The data from the temp sensor will need to be processed by something. I have made amplifiers with temp sensors, controlled by Arduinos. Having software/firmware control a fan based on the temp sensor reading means it can be altered as needed. It's kind of normal.
