Dude as a datapack dev, your update videos (as well as the recent technical QoL you guys have been spoiling us with in the recent minecraft updates) have put a genuine smile on my face over these past few bleak years. Thank you so much for all of your hard work; it's greatly, greatly appreciated.

That GUI texture split was a long time coming. I hope that map icons, experience orbs and moon phases follow suit at some point in the future.
@pencilvoid Жыл бұрын
Agreed. I've been working on a personal GUI pack for a long time and I plan to release it once I've covered everything in vanilla and a handful of mods. The texture split combined with support for multiple versions in one pack will make my life a lot easier.

We have multi-version packs, now it would be great to have subpacks in the packs (Like Bedrock Edition)

I feel like the technical changes to this game are MASSIVELY under appreciated. There is SO much power in datapacks now. It's utterly insane how much can be done in vanilla minecraft now. Most mods can be replaced with datapacks, and it's *awesome*.

Macros and /random are great! It's too bad the "/return run" subcommand had to be removed; that would be perfect with these new bits. Hopefully it will be back soon!

Every time there are these big sweeping changes to command formats, it takes a *while* for me to update my datapack, and it's very frustrating. But more than frustrating I'm glad the game is internally becoming more and more consistent over time. Great changes, ty for your continued support/help for everyone who works "behind the scenes" of Minecraft. Not many people do that, and no-one as qualified as you :)

With all these new in-game developer changes (which have been amazing), I’ve been hopeful that we would see compatibility for custom worldgen, and jigsaw features, on realms. I have been working for multiple years now on projects that my friends and I would like to include in our survival worlds, which we run on realms. I haven’t switched to a different provider yet in hope that some day we might see this change. Especially in light of these developer-centric changes.

Kinda sad that /return run was removed, used it a lot in the snapshots. Hopefully it will be back very soon.
@EtechMC Жыл бұрын
I had no clue how that even worked lol
@Octojen Жыл бұрын
I'm sure it will. I believe it was only removed because it didn't work correctly for nested functions.
@slicedlime Жыл бұрын
If you used it, your stuff was broken. It'll hopefully be back soon in actually working form :)

The amount of code cleanup and standardizing that is going into this update feels very impressive from what is in this video. It's not as exciting as new features but man was it needed and is appreciated.

I'd take some of the bug fixes and code cleanup over new features any day

Multi version packs: is there a way to set it for version x or above? Unless there’s a change to block data, my pack to remove random rotations only needs updating for new blocks that have that feature, and thus works for all future changes.
@slicedlime Жыл бұрын
Nope. You can't know it works until you know what's in that pack version anyway, so you'd basically just be lying.

Does anyone have some good examples of player content that has been made with all these commands and stuff? The last adventure map I ever played was Diversity 2
@miroaja1951 Жыл бұрын
As much as I'm very happy with the new macro system and random command, and not to sound complainey or needy one of the only big things missing from basic pack making now is a reliable way to apply forces and motion to players. Mostly since data merge doesn't understandably work on players

I have to know how to get these cool binary particles in video.

They are actually text display entities randomly summoned by command blocks.

I'm not very tech savvy outside of making datapacks and a resource packs so if it weren't for LudoCrypt's video explaining how to use the slicer, I wouldn't have got it. When you release tools like that, think of dumb people like me and give idiot-proof instructions. I would appreciate it.

Wow that's a mouth full. And I barely understand anything you said 😂 but thx for the update.

I get that they want the textures split, but its really fricking annoying for making texture packs. Like why does every damn tab texture need its own file. I literally wasted two hours, then I found out about the splicing tool. Now I just make my packs like I used to but have the additional step of using the slicing program...

I think the games is moving towards the pay to play DLC direction, where you basically download a bunch of json files or have access to realms only content via the new networking infrastructure. This really concerns me as i dont want another paradox amount of DLC content for minecraft.
