I played a KN7000 professionally for years. I also was friends with and worked with a large dealer. Let me tell you that you are so far above any home keyboard player I ever sold an instrument to. You really know the instrument better than most I've run into. Myself included. I just picked up an FA-1 now I have the last organ and keyboard Panasonic made. I'm hoping to get them to midi together when I have time it should make one heck of a duo. Thanks for sharing.

Some of you guys out there have missed the point of this video. I didn't want to start a heated debate on which keyboard is "better"! I have already acknowledged that Yamahas, Korgs, etc, are nowadays technically more advanced, but there are still thousands of people who own and want to hang on to their KN keyboard. It is for those people I posted this video, in the hope that some of them might be prompted to re-explore the possibilities of their KN7000. Happy playing!
@marcbrasse7479 жыл бұрын
Reg Siger You are quite right but since most people hardly know how to play it is much easier to just talk specs. I was just as guilty once. As far as the "survivability" of the KN's is concerned: The proof is simply in the sound and the expression one still get's out of this "old banger" and you Reg have lots of expression. Another reason not to underestimate the KN's is that they contain a lot of technology of the Technics WSA 1 synhtesizer, which as far as I am concerned is the most understimated synhtesier EVER!. It added acoustical modeling (nowadays more often called physical modeling) aspects to the package. I can reccommend it very highly to you since you seem to have exactly thr right midset for it. One warning though: The factory presets, which as such where certainly on the same level as the KN, barely scratched the surface of the exra possibilitie. I have built a special rig around the WSA, which I call Starship One, in which it is the central element. I combine it there with a ribbon controller for full pitch control and natural vibrato's and have also added a keyboard with polyphonic aftertouch (The GEM S3). By combining that with a very nifty little box, caklled the MIDIMIXFIX, I can now even play the WSA with polyphonic aftertouch! I am sure I wil not have to explain what that can add to someone like you. Talking about yourself as just being an average keyboardist is clearly too modest. I am sure you would sound like a regular Paganaini on that rig of mine. Marc Brassé

Marc Brassé Thanks for the nice comments, Marc. For me also, there are still lots of things to discover about our "old KN banger". Problem is that I am not that great with handling technology, working things out more by instinct than by knowledge......and slowly! Your set-up sounds really interesting, and it must be great to be able to create your own rig,...something I'd find difficult! Regards, Reg S

@regsiger22115 жыл бұрын
Sorry, Joyce, that rhythm style was composed from scratch, as were most of the styles demonstrated in my other videos. It is a sort of slow Rock/Blues Ballad type, similar to some in the "BALLAD" section, but with some bigger edited sounds. Part of my fun with the KN is creating my own styles & sounds. I use very few of the KN's factory styles, or if I do, I "beef" them up to my taste. My videos are meant to show what a creative tool the KN7000 is.

I am planning to upload a load of videos featuring the KN7000 soon ( around January '17). Is that from the headphones, the KN's own speakers or exernal speakers? You don't specify. If it is a headphone problem, it could be some dust in the headphones socket. Try to "wriggle" it in & out, or smear a tiny bit of WD40 on the metal part of the jack. That usually works for me. If it is an external speakers problem, are you sure you plugged BOTH Left & Right leads in the Main output sockets? It could also be a faulty lead? If it is a KN's own speakers problem, then it would be a visit to the keyboard shop for possible repair. Not sure what else to suggest, unless someone out there knows better.

Hello Marilyn, Regretfully, I am not an engineer . Sounds like a proper repair job for one. If I was in your place, and if I could afford it, I would part-exchange my damaged KN7000 and buy another second-hand one ( £ 900-£1200 average shop prices) If this is too expensive an option, then I would Google " KN7000 for sale & repairs", Assuming you live in the UK,, there are music stores that provide repairs, such as Whitley Bay Organs, Allen Music Centre, Key Organs, Allegro Music. You could try Google them to see if they would repair your KN. Good luck, Reg

Assuming you are UK-based: between £ 500 to £ 700 for private sale, depending on condition. Add £100-150 if the KN has all the 4 EWO modules fitted. For quick sale, lower the price of course. Prices in music store vary between £ 800 to £ 1,100. Alternatively, why not keep it !

Thanks for the info, appreciate it. I couldn’t be a pain and ask what an EWO module is?! Lovely hearing this instrument in action on the video. It was my Grandads and I still remember him playing it after Sunday lunch when I was younger.

The EWO modules, or more precisely SY-EWO 1-4 NX Expansion modules contained extra sounds, and were easily fitted inside the machine by its owner. These are now a rarity, and people looking to buy a used KN7000 with EWOs will be willing to pay extra! I have all four and although the extra sounds are of variable quality, some are outstanding. They retailed at around £ 150 each when first available. Best way to find out if your KN has any is to press EW EXPANSION (upper right section of the KN) and look at the bottom centre of the screen, and If you have any EWOs fitted, it will show EXP 1, 2, 3, 4. Hope this helps.

There happens to be a brand new Technics KN6500 on eBay; however, the keyboard is located in Greece, and I live in U.S. So, obviously, the keyboard is a European 230-240V model. I am wondering if there is a way to replace the power transformer in the keyboard with an American one, which is 110-120V. There are internal KN6500 power supplies available on eBay. I know, there are external power converters, I even have one for U.S. 120V to Japan 100V. However, that's kind of a compromise, because these power converters get very hot, and I'd need to stop playing, turn off the instrument, and cool the power converter. Anyway, you can ignore my comment. I have to figure out these political energetic barriers myself, I guess. :)

However, there are still a good number of used KN7000s about, at least here in the UK, where you could still find one from a music dealer at GBP 900-1,200, or maybe on eBay or Gumtree , where I have seen prices as low as £ 750.

Hello, I recently acquired this keyboard (a gift from my grandfather), and I'm way over my head. This may seem like a stupid question, but when playing on the traditional piano setting, is it possible to record the keyboard in stereo? Every time I plug in it records in mono (even though I utilize both line outputs).

+Josh Hackler Hello Josh, Have you checked both leads for faults? For instance, try recording with Left and Right separately. This might be a stupid question on my part, but have you checked both inputs on your recording device? Also, could one of the the KN7000 "Main Out" outputs be dodgy|? Finally, you could try recording from the earphones output ( at the front left) as its output is in stereo. For this you need a stereo jack and plug the single lead into a "Y" splitter, both leads going into the L&R inputs of your recording device. Hope this helps. Reg

Fair comment , J. I suppose it is a bit like putting too much salt in a dish, but then again, I like salty food, and judging by most of the comments on this video, it doesn't seem to bother most of of the viewers. However, point taken, and I'll try and tone down the reverb on my next video(s)

Cool. yeah majority of people don't even realize that it's reverb they are hearing. But a lot of keyboards do that that from the factory. It's definitely not your fault. Nice video though.

@@JuliusDeBerryJr I'm sure there's a Reverb adjustment feature so it's really no big deal when you really think about it
@JuliusDeBerryJr2 жыл бұрын
@@8-biternie944 oh yeah, I didn't say it was a big deal. But something obvious for sure. With that said, I'd hate to have to go and adjust that much reverb on every preset. All good... to each it's own.

Nice technique to play bended notes.. actually i don't know if i like this particular keyboard, sound a bit unrealistic to me, like a cheapass Casio keyboard.. i don't know, this keyboard does not sooth my ears.

Are you talking about the quality of sound on the video, or the sounds of the KN7ooo itself? Be more specific, please. Judging by most other people's comments below, they must have hearing difficulties!.
