We are back for another episode of the podcast and this one is special. I am joined today by none other than Ryan Dungey. He is a future hall of famer and a multiple time Motocross and Supercross champion. On top of this he is a Husband, father and he runs a foundation that supports children with cancer and introduces bicycles into the lives of underprivileged children.
Ryan was also the first person I ever recorded a podcast with all the way back in 2017. At that time the concept of Gypsy Tales wasn’t even born yet, but that chat ignited what has become a great joy and passion in my life and it was really cool to get to sit down again years later.
On this awesome episode of the podcast we talked about how far he has come since 2017, what he has learned since retiring from the sport, his comeback season in 2022, reflecting on his rivalry with Jason Lawrence, his experience trying out for Factory Suzuki, living with Ricky Carmichael, his friendship with James Stewart, his partnership with brands like Target and Nike and much more.

KZbin has made many things much, much easier to learn. It's hard to appreciate how significant this has been. 30 years ago, at best you might have a video tape that you could watch. Now, virtually unlimited examples to learn from.

I think when Dungey came back, was finishing in the top 5’s probably scared more of the other riders than they scared him. He was done for 5 years and still held his own!! Even had a hole shot.

As an old bloke i know techniques have changed lol one of my first pair of motocross boots had a replacable section of sole where the footpegs eat them away and it certainly wasn't the ball of my feet

Talking technique: Stefan Everts used to stand all the time when riding, even around most corners! I was lucky enough to see him ride during his peak and it was poetry in motion. The evolution of the sport and the techniques of riders and their styles is fascinating. Great podcast mate, you have a natural ability to make the people who come on your show comfortable and get the best out of them. 👌🇦🇺🎉
