Thanks, Eric for this posting this video! You've got me sold now on these Metal Posts. I will be installing my 1st techno metal posts deck soon. My local Ottawa Franchiser told me between $300-350/ post depending on how many. Yes, it's still pricey I find, but the labor savings is awesome when you got a busy short landscaping season. Not having all that time wasted incl. getting/hauling/mixing cement bags etc. and you build the deck frame the same day is a bonus!!

Geert Meganck Im about to build an elevated deck and plan on going this way. I agree with all of your points. Let the pros do the hard stuff!

So these are better than concrete no thanks I’ll keep my hand poured pads, you all are lazy or just have plenty of money these are not cost efficient

I'll be using these within the next couple of months to build our new cottage in Quebec (Gracefield). Fingers crossed they do the job they are supposed to. We are on clay at the current/old structure has been sinking since day 1 (1972).

I hope things work out for you. I have used the piers to support footings where the soil doesn't have the bearing capacity it should with great success.

Helical piles are really a fantastic invention for us. We also try to introduce it into China

Can you tell what crowler you use to digging and how much torque it will provide? How long piles max? I'm in Finland looking for such a compact digger for the projects in here!😊

What’s the lifespan of the helical piles, do they not corrode over time?
@vcincgreen5 жыл бұрын
Good question, I will find out for you
@vcincgreen5 жыл бұрын
So the response I received was the piers will last as long as concrete and longer than the wood the pier supports. Sorry I can't give you a more accurate number.

Fantastic invention. I await pricing to use these helical piles to rescue my 1946 cottage built on a slope of varying soil and boulders. Not sure if they can be used but if they can, they'll be a most welcome change from the gradual movement we've experienced over the years. I notice your contractors are in the 905 area. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

In the 905 area contact Techno Metal Post Hamilton-Durham Phone : 905-854-7388 Fax : 855-293-9890 And they can direct you to a installer. Thanks

Could you explain how you can transfer the weight of the house to a post 2 feet from the house. You said angle iron ? How do you do that ?
@vcincgreen5 жыл бұрын
Hi, I was speaking technically from just the numbers point of view but not practically. Technically these two piers could support much more weight, ridiculously more weight than what I actually need. This is import to appreciate that you would need far fewer piers than the typical concrete piers. And yes specifically in this installation I supported the concrete slab with an angle iron which is resting on the two piers.
@kipcarroll4865 жыл бұрын
@@vcincgreenI was hoping you would explain how a piece of angle iron on top of these posts would do this. Its still 2 ft from the house. So......
@vcincgreen5 жыл бұрын
@@kipcarroll486 The piers support the angle and the angle supports a structurally spanning concrete floor which spans the 2'. The walls and roof then rest on the concrete slab.

So.. why didn't your posts have the green sleeves on them?? I thought they had to install them with the sleeves. Also, how much did those two posts cost you?
@vcincgreen4 жыл бұрын
Not sure, perhaps the green sleeves are a company thing and not a universal requirement? And the price varies, I would call your local pier company and ask them for a quote. For me, the cost wasn't very much because there were only 2 piers, they didn't have to go down very deep and they had quick and easy access to the pier location. Thanks for the comment.

Hello where can I get info about the small pile driver machine
@vcincgreen4 жыл бұрын
I would contact a local pier installer and ask them, here in southern Ontario we use Techno-metal posts www.technometalpost.com/en-CA/
@joncolton7 жыл бұрын
Could you tell us roughly how much this cost?
@vcincgreen7 жыл бұрын
It depends on location and a bunch of other factors but anywhere between $250 to $350 per pier

@@vcincgreen have you gotten a straight answer on prices? I've been trying to get a price for piles only, as I already have equipment. Everyone seems to want to sell me a consultation, engineering, and everything else I don't want to support a small shed. I figure, I'll probably end up having an engineering company develope "Generalized Rules of installation", offer 10 different sizes from China by the container load, and offer a clear price for equipment rental and installation. I've been installing screw piles for communication towers for 20 years, and all of a sudden it's super complicated!
@vcincgreen6 жыл бұрын
@@theoriginalcttheoriginalct6938 I think you might be trying to ask the wrong person this question. Techno Metal Posts, for example, are not manufactures but rather installers, so their answers, if you were asking for piers to be installed are correct. But if you are trying to set up your own supply chain, manufacturing and installation business you will need to look elsewhere. I do not have any information regarding the questions you have asked here, only the perspective of a professional and a homeowner who has needed and had these types of piers installed on a residential project. Thanks and good luck

I thought the piers had to be right up against the footer
@vcincgreen Жыл бұрын
No generally it is the opposite. They don't like putting the piers near the existing foundation walls because the will pierce the weeping tile. As a general rule, I have been told, they like to be a minimum of 24" away from any structure.
