The tools needed are a T5 Star Shaped Screw Driver and a Flat Screw Driver. You can easily get the replacement battery on eBay

Good idea, it is safer to do it outside.

I wish phones were as easy as these are to replace the batteries

Very true, but they want us to toss them away and spend money buying new ones.

Hello friend. I see that you are an expert on Garmins. So I would like to share some of my experience with them. Sometimes I insert a battery that is very bad in one Garmin, but in another it is excellent. It is as if it was registered as a new battery in that Garmin.

Hi, to answer that question I need to know the model number of each Garmin device, and the part number of the battery. This could happen if the control board on the battery is for a specific model for which certain voltage is nominal, whereas for other models that is below standard operational voltage.

@@TECHNOLOGYTIPS101 Well, I don't know the serial numbers of the batteries, but I took out the batteries from the Nuvi 58 and Drive 50 and replaced them, they work great and like new. And the one from the Drive 50 was bad in that Garmin and has less amperage compared to the one from the Nuvi 58.

@@divdivic8120@divdivic8120 In that case, do a discharge test; if a fully charged battery powers the GPS for at least one hour without any external power, it is considered Good. If it powers it for 2+ Hours, it is Very Good. Anything less than one hour is OK, but it is not a trustworthy battery pack.

@@TECHNOLOGYTIPS101 Hello friend. I hope you are well. If I may ask one question. I currently have a Nuvi 2495 LM and when I give it a destination, the map on the display changes sometimes like in the picture. There are some squares that represent buildings, this has happened to me before on some devices. .When I track his route, the map is normal all the time. Please look at the attached picture. I wonder if you'd ever make a video on the TomTom Go 910, a larger GPS with its own internal hard drive. I have a bad feeling these drives are on their way out and will likely fail soon, which could brick the debice. SSD upgrades are available as the drive is the same as what the iPod uses, its just a matter of cloning the drive.

I don't have one on hand to make a video but I can guide you here on how to do it. Get an SSD drive that matches the same connector, and capacity as your old drive. Download the software called " R-Drive Image" trial edition. Create an image of the old drive and then restore the image to the new SSD Drive. If the SSD drive's Capacity is too large the GPS will not be able to read it because it dosn't support larger capacities.

Have you ever had a battery that ripped when trying to remove it from the adhesive that is used to glue it down. I mean not like accidentally puncturing it with whatever tool you used to pry it up with.
@TECHNOLOGYTIPS1015 ай бұрын
I usually make sure not to puncture the battery pack and put more pressure on the inner case of the GPS where it is glued on. So I will see scratches and pressures marks on the inner case, but not on the battery. If you puncture a charged battery you will have fire and smoke which could burn your fingers. So make sure the old battery is fully discharged and the prying tool is not hitting the battery cell.
