November 2024, used the patch on two old TomTom One's. So far it works. One unit has app v7.522, the other app v8.010. Both show GPS v1.21, BOOT 5.5011. Both units were dropping the GPS signal constantly, now it's just the v7.522 unit that loses signal. Time is good however.

@@shaketheshammy There is no folder by the name of Root Directly, the empty space outside all folders is called " Root Directory" So if you click on the " My Computer " Icon and you see all the drives such as C: Drive, D: Drive etc. The one for TomTom is the Root Directly of the TomTom. So you will copy and past it on top of that drive.

@@chansesArmstrong Since you didn't mention which model of TomTom you have, I am assuming it is an old TomTom One, or One XL. If so, you need to replace the touch screen because in this model of TomTom there is no Screen Calibration option. Although f you are good at coding, you can create a Text file to manually manipulate the calibration and fix the issue, but if the touch screen is defective even that will not work. The touch screen is not as expensive as the screen itself, and you can find them for $5 or so on eBay. The touchscreen is called " Digitizer " so make sure to search for that when you are shopping for it.

If you contact Tom Tom they will offer. You 10% I have two Tom Tom. Ones and it says lifetime updates included! So I wasnt best pleased when they both failed on a trip! Engineering in device failure is standard practice for everything now even light bulbs.

@@ebgamlen3455 Hi Elisabeth, unfortunately without going through the painful procedure again, I really can’t remember or explain how it is done, from what I can remember, you need to download that repair patch to your MacBook desktop, plug in your Tom to your Mac, then open the Tom Tom file and just drag and drop the patch into the Tom Tom file and the magic just seemed to happen. Follow any prompts to replace or update etc your Tom Tom. I also have about 5 more Tom Tom XXL which have various other problems, I’ll pick out one and see if I can document the procedure for you. I really like my XXL, I spend a lot of time on the road in melbourne metro, which is great for the XXL, so easy to operate in a hurry, I also use google maps too when my Tom is missing a few new roads and traffic reports, but I hate google maps graphics and the tiny text info and the horrible way the map automatically changes in to zoom mode, very annoying when trying to judge distances, I end up screaming mad at its over complicated software

I just pulled out my old TomTom XL IQ and charged it. I tried the patch. It set the time correctly until I took it outside then it reset back to midnight. I tried copying the files over a second time just to make sure nothing was missed. Same result. I’m glad this fix worked for a lot of folks, but it didn’t work for me.

You make no mention of the WNRO fix for the later GL2 chipped devices. However I see someone has added the required file (\bin\glgps) to the ZIP you are offering. Most of the TomTom ONE IQ Routes models have the later GL2 chip. The TTConv fix only works for models using the GL1 chip. TomTom did include a WNRO fix for GL2 chipped models in NavCore v9.541 - but for most systems you only need to update one file - the \bin\glgps file - taken from that update - and included in your zipfile. As long as you already have at least NavCore v8.4 (listed as App version on the TomTom's Version page) you can just copy over the single glgps file to activate the WNRO fix on these devices. There is no need to install any of the other TTConv files. GL1 devices will ignore the glgps file - so its presence causes no problems. GL2 devices should ignore the TTConv fix as it checks for correct GPS chip before loading.

Just copy that file into the bin folder on your TomTom and restart the satnav. It should then hold the date acquired from the satellites and work correctly.

Thank you for spending the time to share this information . I have updated my old Tom Tom GO 720 , The clock did reset but the unit is frozen on the Legal Notice screen ? Battery is charged and unit has been Reset . Any input would be great .

Press the reset button at the bottom of the unit with a needle and see if that fixes it. If not you will need to download the latest Navcore for it, such as 9.5 which already has the clock fix in it.

What is the exact model number of your TomTom, I can help revive it. You must have accidentally deleted some system files. These files are supposed to be added to the TomTom without removing any existing files.

But I was able to reload the software using the CD I had with it. However I have now no maps. I contacted TomTom They proposed me to buy a new GPS. and they told me the TomTom One is not supported. Hi. The new maps for Europe are too big and will not fit on an old TomTom one. So you need to pick a smaller region of Europe, or just a few countries. So if you tell me which countries you need I can help you find it. Thank you

This is a bit confusing! I live in the UK and have just bought a TomTom Rider 550 which is my first ever sat nav device. The time of day shown when I bring up a route on the unit is correct (although I cannot see a date anywhere). When I boot up the device and continue to hold the On button to bring up the info screen the time of day is wrong and more significantly the date is shown as August 17 1970. I can understand this GPS chip issue affecting much older devices but surely not on a brand new one?

Hi, no it does not effect the new ones, all you have to do is get the firmware update and it will be good to go. You can also go outside under the clear sky and the GPS will get the Time and Date form the Satellites, a cloudy sky is also OK.

You need to run GPS Fix update by using FastActive.exe

This fix should work great for you, also upgrading the Firmware to 9.54 will not require this fix, because the clock fix is embedded in the 9.54 update.

Hi, the page on the left is the file that you download from the link in the description of the video. Once you downloaded it you need to extract it and then open the extracted folder and that will be the screen on the left.

Even though my maps are on the SD card TomTom Home says I cannot update my maps on this "old" device "due to limited internal memory". I am wondering if a copy of the map was available if you could simply drag it onto the SD card and replace the out of date one?

I am glad it worked for you, yes you can but have to first unlock the TomTom which means patching the Navcore and then activating the maps. It is a long process because you need to have a program called Fast Active. You need to search for it on GPS forums

It doesn't have the file names shown in your video, but no worries I've managed to fix the problem on my old TomTom (I don't think it's any of the ones you have in your video, but it kept defaulting to 12:00am!!) just by connecting it to my laptop, opening a TomTom account - I couldn't even register the device (it was a secondhand one I bought off Vinted) yet when I ejected it from the laptop, and tried the time heyho it worked - it now keeps the correct time. So I'm very grateful for your video as I'd never have even tried to do it, but it's all good now! @@TECHNOLOGYTIPS101

Yes there is, but you have to go through multiple steps to patch the navcore and the maps.
