Had my phone stolen out of my hand in Brazil. As soon as I found wifi, I used my laptop to put my phone in lost mode and immediately after erased it. They tried putting my SIM card into another phone, but it was rejected from my network and never approved. They tried changing my google password, not successfully. My bank even called telling me there was someone trying to access my account. Pretty scary. But end of the day, I bought another iPhone ($1200) and that was the only consequence I've had so far... Lesson learned... no more Latin America for me, their reputation proceeds them.

6:52 no, apple support can't find your phone for you. Its protected under your password which apple can't keep on file due to laws. Only the phone owner can find their phone. Update: Keep in mind if you have a theft and lost claim, you must enable lost mode to get a new phone. Its next to the erase button.

I contacted apple support too to help find my lost IPhone 12 Pro Max but they said they can’t because it’s required a password which they aren’t allowed due to owner’s privacy and laws too.

@@chemicalaardwolf795 I'm sorry to hear that your iphone is lost. Without the password, you have to reset it which requires a verification code. That code will be sent to all devices that are signed into your account. However, if you only have an Iphone, account recovery is the only option (select cant get verification and/or cant use this device and can't use phone number). a verification will be sent to your email instead however there is a long wait period (can take weeks). In that time, the phone will already either be forced erased or thrown out. Would be a miracle if you can still track it.

Thanks for the replay. Yes in 5 min the person who found it already switched it off. I can see on my phone settings the two phones and find my it is off😢wish i knew. Hi - If you erase an iPhone 8 remotely (need to do this because it was run over and crushed and can't access the phone itself - nothing works - but can see it when locating it), will that also remove it from icloud? And even if it’s locked and has a face I.d. When you call your stolen phone the person answering your phone only has to answer it to unlock the phone. No passcode or face I.d needed. Real good security 😂

When my phone was stolen it was immediately turned off. I set a number to call if the phone was found. That number received a text message trying to get me to log into a sketchy web page using my Apple ID and password. If I had done that, the thieves would have been straight into my iCloud account and the phone, my email and the whole works. Do Not log into such a web site using your credentials! I set the phone to erase, which it did a month later when it connected to the internet in charming China. I assume the phone would have been broken down for parts.

We just got our oldest iPhone because it's what the cool kids have. , and screen time, we don't have near the controls and information that we have with Family Link. If Apple would at least make an Android app that would allow parents to manage screen time and family sharing from an Android phone, that would be helpful. For now I have to physically go to my MacBook to approve app installs, seems like Apple could make this a lot more practical for real parents, not just everybody who has only/all iPhones. Some solid advice in this video, however erasing the device does NOT allow others to use the phone - find my comes with activation lock and once the phone is erased, it's tied to your Apple ID and will not allow the setup to complete unless activated by the account owner
