Hey Edgar. I retested those no boot set of ram sticks, and yeah they were finicky. Oddly posted on an Intel test bench, but then failed under stress test immediately, and no boot on my AMD test bench. Did post on my rig, but one of the sticks would post and show up in bios, but none of the ram was accessible. Im guessing good ole old school Static disharge damage. It is Ram afterall, and its a volatile component. Ended up having Corsair RMA'ing the kit. So the kit was defective, My bad. Happy to have replaced them and your project completed!! Looks Good!! And thanks for the Blessings!! :D

As a pc builder of 18 years, I have only seen ram issues with intel kits on AMD builds. The double or triple reboot on the motherboard was definitely ram training/testing from AMD's bios settings. Some kits do work with AMD and vice-versa, depending on the cpu sku from either side. I did find your vod from my recommended, and was highly impressed with the content you're making. I love it!

As someone who flips PCs , I've dealt with a lot of RAM issues, especially with Ryzen chips. Particularly with the older generations the memory controllers aren't exactly great, and RAM compatibility is always an issue. I won't declare a set of RAM dead until I've at least tried it with an updated BIOS (which I do on all boards anyway), as that often hugely improves RAM compatability with Ryzen. I've also had a lot of issues with Corsair Vengeance LPX. It's cheap RAM. i've experienced exactly your issue - no POST with a Ryzen CPU and Corsair LPX, which then worked fine after a BIOS update. Live and learn. A lot of rookie mistakes were made but you did well anyway (especially that case...). You can learn a TON doing this, BTW. Especially troubleshooting lol... Would make a good series. Few tips: RAM and storage are so cheap right now that it's best to just go new with them. Saves you headaches, and time. If you're flipping, add some $20 cable extensions and a $20 CPU cooler with some RGB and not only will it sell much faster, but you'll get a better price (more than what the cxooler and extensions cost). The markets will vary but you should be able to get $700-800 for that PC at least - *IF* you added those cosmetics and had a good listing. I do similar builds all the time, there's actually a pretty big market for those types of PCs. A lot of people can't afford more.
@nicofodder74398 ай бұрын
So on the point. There are updated compatibility lists for ram with bios numbers. Should check them out before buying, saves a lot of unnecessary sweating.

“Boot or bust” would be my name suggestion. I think it would be cool to do this in different price budgets, or constrain yourself to hit certain performance numbers. Maybe in the future use specific apps to make your deals to make it more challenging? I.e just offer up, just Mercari, just marketplace etc. could also do full setup challenges including peripherals. This inspired me to search for deals to refresh my PC. 7 years strong but definitely showing it’s age with new games.

I pick up used components all the time and can tell you how often I ran into stuff like this at first. Any loose components, almost always require cleaning with some IPA, people are messy and stuff like this just gets left sitting out most of the time. Also, always pull the CMOS battery on any loose motherboard ahead of time on a fresh build, you have no idea what profile the previous owner used. Once I started cleaning everything, I think I only got screwed over maybe once in the past year on a MB, but luckily I know how to solder and was able to fix that as well.

As a on and off pc flipper what i usually do is price the parts new on pc part picker, and list for 75-90% of the total cost(depending on condition of parts) and typically get it sold after negotiating at 65-75% of the total cost of parts

Oh so the CPU cooler and case I got off a friend since his pc broke down and wanted to upgrade a few parts (it was pretty much free) I could sell all of this but I might keep it to remember this unreal deal.
@HardWhereHero8 ай бұрын
I take the current market value of each used part (CEX or Ebay depending on location) and add a build fee to it. Make sure to count everything, fans, RGB all of that. On the flip side, after so many wins like this its good to find people who normally cant afford something high end and give them a killer deal. Like a younger kid or student that can use it for way more than just gaming. Those are my thoughts and that is how I roll. As far as the build fee price. That is going to differ from person to person. How much time did you invest in sourcing and building the system, travel expenses and all that needs to be taken into consideration if you plan on doing this over the long term. I sold around 70 some last year and I work alone and do it just cuz.

I did end up spending a bit more to upgrade the AIO, case (Fractal Design North) and PSU, but I used the old parts to put together another old 1080p capable PC to sell. I also figured out that the GPU was running hot because someone installed pads that were too thick, so I repasted with PTM 7950 and appropriate pads. The system runs well, now. Nice video!

To test on location it is possible to make a mobile test bench. So obviously it would have to be open board, and you'd have to cart around a battery backup and acdc power inverter, also some at least 1080p mobile monitor. It'd be a pain in the kiester but eh it can be done. Cool video, honestly ive had ram that won't work in one mobo but can work in another mobo. It's happened with DDR3 and 4, so one thing that happened was the xmp profile memory wasn't compatible with one amd mobo i had, I put the ram in a different amd mobo as well as an Intel based mobo and the ram did work in both other mobos. If I recall correctly, I got a GSkill sniper 2x4 1866 pair that would not work in an ASRock 970FXExtreme3 but it worked in a 990Extreme 4 and the oem i7 4790 build just fine. I ended up using a pair of Corsair in the 970Extreme 3 an the Corsair set detected at 1600 CL 9 with auto overclock on the mobo it bumped to 1800's but not quite 1866. The motherboard might not have been able to run the sniper ram, which ended up overclocking to over 2k on frequency on the 990Extreme4. Newer mobo, more current and complete support for ram etc. Anyway I find more problems with ram and motherboard's than anything else. A bump from 380 to 500 would be more reasonable and likely to sell faster. IMO

once you hit bios settings what did you do to get windows up & running? i have a pc that runs but will boot straight to bio settings and i don’t know what to do or how to fix it.

You should have only reseated one of those 3200mhz sticks to see if even one of them booted. It could have been a fluke motherboard issue with that particular die. This is rare but it does happen. Good video. I like your content and I wish you more success and happiness in your life.

I just bought a full gaming pc and never thought to look until I got home , it was missing the WiFi antenna , so I bought them from Amazon for like $7 , hey it works so I’m not disappointed. It’s not as new as they told me but it runs the games I play so I’m ok until after Christmas and I can buy a new pre built or have my own built by Micro Center. Love the videos , the one video where u got emotional talking about your past kinda got to this old man , got a little teared up. The guy with the ram , he looked a little sketchy anyway. You’re lucky he responded , I’m never that lucky LOL. 👍👍👍✌️✌️✌️

The ram thing happened to me as well, with Corsair vengeance RGB pro sl 32gb (4x8). I got a strap for $40, get home and doesn't boot... I tested one at a time and surprisingly they all booted by themselves! Tried All again and no boot AGAIN!! I scrubbed them down with rubbing alcohol and moved the seating a bit and boom worked like a dream! That was about $80 in savings at the time so I was hyped lol

If you do go ahead with the series you should build a test setup you can bring with you to test the parts before buying. It will save a lot of frustration and headaches trying to meet up with the seller to swap or return if they answer back.
