i've had several Fire tablets... Chris hit it spot on. they're fine for reading, watching a video, & basic games. they're cheap AF and quite frankly they're fine for just basic uses. i'd certainly give it to anyone who isn't super techy and you're concerned about them trashing it or just doesn't care that it's pretty slow.

I have an 11th gen Fire tablet and it's been absolutely terrific for watching movies and reading e-books. And yes, I've read all of Chris Barraclough's books. I even paid for some of them!😁

My wife's had a Fire tablet for years and it's still going strong and working well for the basic use it gets, mostly watching movies, etc. through the browser. I belive that it's possible to load some Google services too if you know how. Details on the web

Just because Amazon Store doesn't include a KZbin App doesn't mean you can't get it !!! I downloaded it from Google and now I have KZbin with no Adverts on my New Fire 10. I don't bother with the Games, I use my X Box Series X for them !!!

I've enjoyed my hd10 for the last 2 years tbf never need to worry about it getting dented or damaged , it still looks amazing don't throw it round but I'm not too careful with it and sometimes that's what you need when going away ,watching movies , streaming music to Bluetooth speaker etc all been brilliant. I will need a tablet for work purposes which I will get something else but this has been brilliant

Great review, like the candid comments, wish I had been wise to the limitations of Fire OS before ordering an HD10. As at mid December 2024 the standard price for the HD10 on the UK 'high street' is £70, so less of a loss. Hoping that I find a way to at least get KZbin on it, which is my main main source of screen based entertainment these days.

I was looking at it here in the USA 5 minutes ago....they offered it for 75.- USD right now and i had a old Kindle Fire 7 HD lying around for what they still offered me as trade in 20.- USD...means i ordered it right now for 55.- Dollar. That was a catch.

Yeah for basic usage it's worth the price. I bought Fire HD 8 (2020) just to read manga and it served me well

If only Amazon can integrate this tablet with a Kindle e-reader, i.e. a "Kindle Fire" hybrid with switchable OLED/E-ink acreen (able to turn transparent like under-display selfie cameras) so that one can watch videos in full colour 60hz like normal, then switch to a more comfy paper-like display for books and manga. One can dream 😂

I loved my Amazon Fire HD 7 actually, if you jail break it or w.e you call it, you're able to get access to the Play store, get every app for free, etc. However, I'm in store for a new tablet and am here to see what the HD 10 is like. Only issue is the fire tablets always get super slow over time, even if you free up space. I've always had that issue with Android devices

These are really good. I like that it bigger than a phone. Although I have questions; sometime kids use my tablet. I don't want them to see the graphic icons on it such as book covers of books I'm reading. How do I block that, or change what's visible?

I got HD 10 maybe 4 yrs ago for my kid with ASD, its been thrown at all times but still working right now, the casing was damage but it still work, a bit of crack on one edge :-)

Another one? Fire OS still based on Android 11 though. How long can Amazon get away with releasing tablets with software from 2021? Don't get wrong I own a Fire HD 10 and it's great for watching KZbin and basic Office 365 use (though it can be a bit slow at times) but come on Amazon, it's time to start basing Fire OS on Android 12 now. Give us proper multitasking and the ability to record the screen and take screenshots.

I had this for a few years before switching to lenovo. I did like it for the time but their were so many limitations compared to ipad and android tablets. If it didint have those limitations and some m ore optoiions to it i may have kept and its useless if you dont have an amazon account.

I have an Amazon fire and its junk. I can't download my banking app and others I use often. This tablet will try everything to keep you in Amazon. If you accidentally get in Alexa, good luck on getting out. I have to reboot it. Do not get one.

My issue with the Fire tablets is that they take years to get 100% full battery.

True. That's why you use a 15w charger instead of the 9w one they put in the box. Amazon also have misleading specs when it comes to charging. It says on their website it charges at 9w which technically is true if you use their charger. But they should probably mention you can use a 15w charger and shave around an hour off the charging time

It was on sale for almost 100 off so i was like f it... cant change the launcher, no headphone jack, the play store is and a lot of the non amazon app store apps have horrible ghost touches, etc. Used to be budget kings now they are just overpriced and somehow cheap junk.

I got mine for $65 on their tablet sale. For 3 year olds it's perfect. I also got the fire max 11 for myself for $150 with keyboard case, stylus and luna controller. It's all around better than the budget Samsung A9+ 11 inch tablet which is $170 alone.
