Thanks! This is so much more simple and straight forward than some of the earlier Acer aspire models that I have seen being upgraded! One tip for people is that when placing the bottom cover back on make sure you secure the battery side of the edge first before pressing down on the other sides as that side is difficult to lock down once the other sides are secure. Had to push the cover out again to redo it and broke one of the little catches in the process so be gentle!

Hey brother, I NEVER tire of the great East Indian accent. God bless. I'm replacing the keyboard that's missing buttons, adding a 60 gig Ocz Vertex ssd, adding a 2gig Crucial 1033 Cl-7 dim and booting a proper Windows 7 Premium OS. Should be an awesome and energy sipping lil machine.

Thanks for the tutorial. 2GB of Kingston KVR1333 CL9 SODIMM iis in and it really makes a huge difference! The only thing is the RAM hinges/retainers are possibly broken (the plastic covers but not the metal hooks). I lost an hour to figure a way to make those arms to hold the RAM down again. Other than that, it took me 7 minutes. Thanks to you. I subscribed too. Cheers!

A friend gave me a D270-1835. What a little doorstop that was. I decided to upgrade it to 2 GB RAM and it actually works more like a real computer now. I now have three keys that won't stay on (they must have a tool at the factory to set these in cleanly), but even if I have to replace the keyboard, the darn thing is working and it's faster. There were more screws to remove in the unit to free up the back than shown in this video and retaining clips to work with as well. Different model I guess.

Note that the cover is held by 3 hooks at the rear, by the battery. Don't pry there, or you will break the hooks; unsnap at the sides and front, then unhook the back. On the keyboard there are 3 plastic spring clips along the top of the keyboard at F4, F8 and F12 that push horizontally to relase the keyboard. At the top corners and on the sides there are "tight spots" that will release as the KB is lifted at center-top.

Thanks, a great help. I doubt I could have done it without your nice vid. At 1 min 42 sec into the video you says to ''push down a little'' to release the back cover. You push on a small rectangular box with a screwdriver. I had to press so hard that I really thought I might break some plastic. (I did not.) The ram I got is from Crucial. >> crucial.com/store/listparts.aspx?model=Aspire+One+D270-1375 Part #: CT4045082. It works fine.

Can I ask if this limitation is because of the hardware of software? If I recall, win7 starter only supports 2gb even if it is 32 or 64bit. But I upgraded my windows, so my current win7 should be able to handle more ram. But if this is because of the hardware then I can't upgrade.

yes, no problem, windows8 or windows 7 full version is also possible(not starter).intel ceder trail 2600 and 2800 support up to 4GB ram, but manufacturers of mobile device i.e note/netbooks advise 2GB because of build system and don't want system to overwork, the choice is yours, I have had no problems.
