Amazing, I was looking for a audio recorder that allows input AND output so my dad could record his phone calls for a book he's writing. He's much older, so the Sony ICD-UX570 is perfect! The interface with the red record button and square stop button makes things sooo easy(can't believe so many don't have a red record button), the internal battery so he doesn't need to carry Triple As, the expandable storage, and most importantly, the input AND output so he can have one mic for himself and one for the phone call.

It would be helpful if reviewers would note which recorders have variable speed playback (without changing pitch), so those who record lectures, are learning languages and/or are learning musical instrument tunes don't have to pause the video for EVERY product listed and go look up the spec sheet.

Once you make a microphone that tiny, it's just not going to sound that great. Even lavalier (lapel) microphones have a large cartridge compared to the sleek Sony's or the Olympus. I'm experimenting with setting my little Sony voice recorder on high sensitivity and doing vocal tracks by using a pop-filter over it. Just to get different effects on my voice. I really love the sound of the new Tula mics. They have no interface at all--just buttons. But i'm enjoying the intimate, tactile feeling of it. And they sound amazing. I'd better than Zoom mic for certain things (like vocals).

I am the fans of Zoom, I bought the H4n, H6n, F8n, F-Control, F8n Pro. The quality of sound recording is good. However, I have some drawback on Handy recorder. The non-slippery plastic design is very bad. My plastic surface of H6n recorder became sticky. The feeling was very bad. I tried to clean, it is very difficult, I open it and tried to clean it. Eventually, the flex cable inside the machine was destroyed. I hope Zoom can get rid of such plastic surface finishing design.
