i'm an enthusiast photographer during the DLSR days. The Xioami completely and cleanly wins this. The iPhone image feel is so smartphone and feels like it came from a cheap smartphone compared to the Xiaomi. The Xiaomi images feels more it came from a premium brand like Apple who doesn't care for oversharpening/over contrast of the Android phone industry.

The xiaomi could be 400$, iPhone user would not change because they may not like the android style and the skin of xiaomi, they may not like the phone design ( quite ugly imo ). Phones are getting expensive anyway whatever the brand so the smart decision is to take the brand you like the most, pay the price, keep the phone 4 to 5 years and invest in a good computer and an actual camera( if you want to take lots of photos ).

The iphone is almost double the price of the 14t pro, so it should perform almost 2x better. However, main focus of 14t pro for its price is the camera with night photography as its highlight. Plus, you get gemini, 144 Hz, 4000 nits, 120W fast charging, 50W wireless, IR blaster, android stuff like floating windows and split screen, and xiaomi's dual apps and second space features, which are all not present in the iphone. I think, package to price ratio, xiaomi wins it.

For videos I will say iPhone did better especially night stabilisation. Xiaomi is too shaky. Xiaomi is really solid now, main and telephoto looks very good. The 14t is a really good flagship. 9300 is really fast. It has more or less everything a flagship needs. Metal, glass, wireless charging, ip rated. Definitely much better than older t series. Maybe poco f7 could be like this.

As a photographer I love the xiaomi more, Iphone camera looks too overexposed and by doing that it lost a lot of character and vibe, ofc it can be fixed after post processing but the xiaomi result are more beautiful despite having less detail, and in night shot Iphone overexposure cost a lot of colour for iphone, in conclusion Iphone have better image quality while xiaomi simply have a better photo.

The actual sensors on the iPhone 16 pro max are certainly not worse though that the Xiaomi 14t pro. The main camera sensor is almost the same size with the iPhone actually being a tiny bit larger and the ultrawide is a stronger sensor. The IPhone indeed has worse camera hardware than the ultra phones from OPPO, Xiaomi and Vivo but not worse than the Xiaomi 14t pro

iPhone is over sharpened garbage at times. Why do they apply so much sharpening? Looks horrible. I much rather prefer a softer image and sharpen it in post if I ever need it which would be never in my case. Sharpening is such a cheap way to make your pictures look “better”(to the average consumer) when you have no real sensor data to back it up. I guess we have reached a plateau when it comes to computational photography.
